prayers for my brother

I’d like to ask for prayers for my brother, Frank. He’s in the end stages of a horrible, ugly disease. Please ask God to be with him in his suffering & to take his soul home to rest in the “green pastures” of heaven when He is ready.
 
Your brother, as well as your family, will be in my prayers.

I beseech Thee for the grace to move this brother of ours to repentance.

and I thank Thee, Most Sweet Jesus,
Shepherd and Lover of Souls;
I thank Thee for this opportunity to give mercy
in thanksgiving for all the mercies

Jesus, You know from Your experience what is is to die in a horrible, ugly way. You saw Your loved Mother and Your dear friends, John and Magdalen, standing in shock and anguish before Your tortured, dying body. Now this man’s family sees their loved one suffering horribly.
Jesus in Your understanding and compassion, please give them comfort and strength.
Please gently draw Frank towards peace and eternal release and happiness, as in the meantime everything is done to make him as comfortable as possible.

Mother Mary, St John, St Mary Magdalen, please prayer for Frank that he will be free from distress and pain. Please pray for his traumatised family. Please pray for their healing and recovery.

No news yet this morning, I just hope that, in the hospital, they can make him more comfortable.

Thank you, so much. He is in the end stages of Cirrhosis, caused by Alcoholism. He hasn’t had a drink in 12 yrs., but it was too late for his health when he quit. 7 yrs. ago, he was diagnosed with cirrhosis & given 5 years to live. He’s already past that, still I’m not ready to lose him…yet I hate to see his pain.
I talked to him today by phone & he’s very, VERY sick. **If **he gets well enough to move, the VA. doctors are talking of sending him to long term care. He is 62.

blessed if the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.

How do you find the thoughts & the words to pray such a wonderful prayer?
There are tears in my eyes after reading this. Thank you so much.

Also, I thought it would be great for all of us to pray for all those suffering with alcoholism. If only they could understand what it can do before it’s too late…

I need to revive this thread, as my brother is having heart surgery this morning. His chances of surviving the surgery are not good. He’s been in the hospital since March 17 & he began going down hill about a week ago. The Veteran’s hospital did all they could do for him & took him to K.U. Med center by ambulance about a week ago. He’s been in the ICU. since that time. He’s on a breathing machine & receiving dialysis, but yesterday they found that the infection had gone to his heart…bacterial endocarditis & basically yesterday, they told me that they had no choice but to operate, it is his only hope.

Pray that God’s will be done &, if it is time for Frank to go to his heavenly home, that he might go in peace & that his soul may be ready to meet his creator.

A few prayers for me would be appreciated too. :signofcross:

Thank you SO MUCH for your prayer. Just a little up-date: Frank survived the surgery & will be in Intensive care for a while. I’m told that the next 48 hours are crucial.

**Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.

I’m in misery today because I “blew my stack” at our other brother, who has hurt Frank so badly, who has not sat & visited with him for 8 yrs.,yet showed up with bells & whistles for his surgery. Help me Father to know how to feel about what I did. Will it make things better should Frank get well? Will John be kinder to him, will he visit him??? Or did I just create more problems in addition to what my family carries?? It’s a hard time.
