My thanks to all of you are way overdue. I had a terrible time with the prednisone, it made me “crazy”. (Really, it just made it hard to sleep.)
Since I was last here, Frank has made yet another trip to KU. Med & is back at the VA. hospital. I know they’ve done all that they can do at this point & I pray that he’s just allowed to rest awhile.

One GREAT thing, my brother has not been a devout Catholic for several years & this has been a concern of mine. Yesterday, when I got to his room, I saw a rosary on his bed table. The Knights of Columbus had made the rounds & gave it to him. He must have known of my worry, because he said, with a grin, “Yes, I’ve been saying the rosary. It’s been a long time, but it brings me great comfort. Seems like God remembers me.” He is very much at peace & still has his sense of humor.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be Adored, Glorified, Loved & Preserved throughout the world, now & forever. Sacred Heart of Jesus, please bless my brother. Saint Jude, Worker of Miracles, please pray for my brother & myself. Saint Jude, Helper of the Hopeless, remember my brother, Frank. Amen.

Dear Faithful Prayer Partners, I spent yesterday with Frank & I’m optimistic again. After 4 months flat on his back, 3 major surgeries & one minor (the Trache tube), he’s trying to walk every day. Two times each day, they take him to therapy & he walks between two steel bars. He’s also close to being able to shave himself, which gives him pleasure, as even during his drinking years, he’s been a fastidious man. He knew we were coming &, though in bed after therapy, he had on a t-shirt instead of a hospital gown & was clean shaven, hair combed,etc. The rosary still lies on his night stand. I give a lot of the credit to you TBCrawford & you Sidhe, as many times when I’m there the only prayer that I’ve been able to say is a desparate “Please God, help him”.

The credit for his progress goes to God, of course. However, He’s sure been listening to St. Jude:

O Holy St Jude!
Apostle and Martyr,
great in virtue and rich in miracles,
near kinsman of Jesus Christ,
faithful intercessor for all who invoke you,
special patron in time of need;
to you I have recourse from the depth of my heart,

BTW. Frank is what the doctors call an “extremely high functioning alchoholic”, which made it hard for me to know whether his drinking was an illness or not, plus this made it harder for him to admit to his problem. His is an interesting story. Of course, though he hasn’t had a drink in 9 yrs. now, he is still an alcoholic. I will PM you both someday & tell you the story of his life.
