I’d like to ask you all to pray for my niece Allison. She’s 19, and has been in the hospital for over a week. She has severe abdominal pain, but they can’t find the source. They’ve done numerous test, but none have led to any relief for her. She was in her second year of college, but had to leave school.

The big fear is that she has the same rare disease that my mother had. It pretty much made her day-to-day life miserable, in constant pain. It’s an inherited disease, and rare enough that many doctors have never even seen a case of it. She’s in a good hospital, with a doctor who’s had some experience with it. We’re waiting on test results from the Mayo clinic.

We’re very concerned for her, and would appreciate any and all prays you may be able to say for her.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

God Bless
In Jesus through Mary

Thanks, Steve.

O Jesus, your servant Allison
is suffering and scared. I ask
you now for her healing.
Grant her peace and comfort.
Remove her pain and suffering.
AMEN

I have placed your petitions within my heart and will carry them with me to Mass and I will remember your petitions for your niece, Allison, in my daily prayers.

Will be praying for Allison that all will unfold happily and that The Lord will strengthen her with courage at this very stressful time for her and all around her…Barb

Thanks to all of you. As of yesterday, the surgeon told her they were not going to remove the appendix, and told her there was nothing wrong with her. Well, something is causing her enormous pain. They’re planning to send her home today.

This is very much the way it started with Mom and the porphyria. She was in constant, severe pain, and one doctor actually told her she was acting like a big baby. It didn’t start with Mom until she was about 65. I’m just hoping something, almost anything else turns up.

We went through so much frustration with Mom’s condition. Each time she had surgery – several heart attacks – we’d stress that they needed to pay attention to the porphyria because so many drugs cause serious reactions, and then someone would give her one of those drugs anyway.

I appreciate all the prayers. There’s a lot of great people out there.

Well, the results from the Mayo Clinic came back, and she does have Acute Intermittent Porphyria. They’re trying to make arrangements for her to go up there next week.

So, please keep her in your prayers. She may not have a bad a time with it as Mom did, but she could be in for a very difficult time.

If you’ve seen an episode of House or Marcus Welby where the disease of the week was porphyria, not everyone with it goes crazy. Mom and I saw the episode on Marcus Welby, and it made the girl look like a raving lunatic. Mom diagnosed the guy on House before House did!

Will be keeping Allison in daily prayer still that all will go well with arrangements to get her to the Mayo Clinic and that her treatment will lead to a full recovery…Thank you for the update…Barb

Thanks, Barb. It’s a comfort to know that so many people all over are praying for this very sweet girl. Deb
