Hello, Everyone. I was surprised to see this today. It means a lot to know that there are people out there still praying for her. A lot has happened in Allie’s life since 2007. The porphyria calmed down, just like it did with Mom, and she’s only had one attack since then.

Allie had a little boy in June of 2009. He was born a few days before her 21st birthday. He’s as cute and sweet as can be, and as babies go, pretty easy and accommodating. His name is Braeden. While Allie was in the hospital having him, the father started back into some old bad habits, and when she found the evidence she threw him out. He went into rehab for about 60 days, then into a half way house. The Sunday after Thanksgiving he died of an overdose. We buried him the day before his son turned 6 months old.

It breaks my heart that this young man threw away his life this way, and that Braeden will never know his father. Seeing the way his father looked at him, the pure love shining in his eyes, I’m stunned he went back to the drugs. If that love couldn’t keep him clean, I don’t know what could have. The funeral procession was at least 100 cars. Grown men were weeping in each other’s arms. For all his problems, the father was a very nice young man and people loved him. I have some beautiful photos of baby and daddy, and I’m making a little scrapbook for Braeden for when he’s old enough to understand.

As for Allie, she’s an amazing young woman. She’s strong and confident in spite of all this turmoil, and she’ll be fine. She’s about to graduate from beauty school, and has a great support system of family and friends, including my sister who is the Queen of the Grandmas.
