Hi Everyone,
We got back from our doctor visit last night. We are both kind of confused an feel like we are running on empty. I’ll try to keep this simple. There are 2 hospitals that we are dealing with, there were 3. One hospital is for my wife and her doctors and one hospital is for my son and his doctors.
According to my wifes’ doctors the tumor appears to be still growing, but stable, meaning it is growing with our son. He is not in distress and they have been known to shrink the in the last couple of weeks before birth. What this means is we are at a standstill until at least June 2nd when we go back for more involved tests.
The doctor says as it looks right now he would recommend surgery (C-section) and then deliver the baby once the tumor was removed. He also said as it looks right now my wife may have to move down there around week 35 (this Thursday is the start of week 32) and there is still a slight chance she and my son may develop hydrops (retained fluid with usually fatal results).
We were given some clinical studies that have been done. We were orignally told that this is a 1/5000 chance. According to the data it is more like a 1/30,000 chance. Why this is significant is there is not much data to go on, let alone the particulars of our son’s tumor. It looks like our situation is unique in the fact that, by now either the baby has miscarried, been emergency delivered due to hydrops, or the tumor has shrunk enough to have a normal delivery. The issue with our sons’ tumor is that it is a hybrid CCAM/BPS, which is short for a Congenital Cystic Adenomitoid Malformation/Bronchial Pulmonary Sequestration, which according to the research has not been researched enough, if at all, to gather information on what may happen these next few weeks.
Overall the doctor yesterday was postive and we will know more after we talk to the other doctors today. I will keep everyone updated.
Your prayers are the only thing keeping us going, Thank You. You will never know how much we appreciate it. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You!
God Bless
