Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land.
Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Amen.

Prayer for an End to Poverty

Creator God,
You loved the world into life.
Forgive us when our dreams of the future
are shaped by anything other than glimpses of a kingdom
of justice, peace and an end to poverty.

Incarnate God,
you taught us to speak out for what is right.
Make us content with nothing less than a world
that is transformed into the shape of love,
where poverty shall be no more.

Breath of God,
let there be abundant life.
Inspire us with the vision of poverty over,
and give us the faith, courage and will to make it happen.
Amen.

Prayer for Holy Thursday

God, You who generously give to all your creatures, satisfy our thirst and hunger not for drink and bread alone but for love, truth, justice and peace though your gift of the Eucharist.

Jesus, in the breaking of the bread in the Eucharist, we remember your suffering and we acknowledge the hungers of so many in this world. Through our sharing in the Bread of Life, open our hearts to the needs of all. May this Bread become the bread of hope, of peace, of abundance for everyone in the global village.

Holy Spirit, may the Blood of Christ we share renew us and energize us to be true communities of light amid the darkness of the structures of sin and injustice in the world today. Christ’s sacrifice gives us new life and nourishes our souls so we can hear and respond to your discerning call.

As we are called to the table of the Eucharist, let us in turn call our brothers and sisters to the table where we can all share the resources of Creation, where Justice and Peace reign, and where Love transforms human souls and earthly structures so life and goodness can flourish. Amen.

Novena to St. Francis

Holy Saint Francis, through your kind intercession we seek holiness above all things. We seek the faith, hope and love that allowed you to joyfully renounce the pleasures of earthly life and to radically follow our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray for us that we enjoy the privilege of suffering with and for the poor in the example of Jesus. Help us to be always grateful for the all blessings we have received and the strength to overcome our most pressing concerns, especially…my private intention for the poor.

St. Francis, pray for us!

Amen.
