Hi everyone,
First of all, I want you all to know that I do pray for all of your intentions–even though I don’t post replies and such on any kind of a regular basis. And thanks to all of you for your prayers for me.
A few of you are aware of this, but, for the benefit of those who aren’t, for the past year, I’ve been having frequent “Immodium-moments”. Immodium doesn’t work. I have had two sets of blood tests, two sets of stool tests, a colonoscopy, and an ultrasound. So far, the ‘quacks’ haven’t figured it out yet (no dis-respect meant for those of you in the medical field). We’ve ruled out parasites/tapeworms, celiac, collitus, Crohns, and I have a normal thyroid.
Since last July, I’ve lost 50+ lbs. I could stand to lose about 20lbs or so more, but I’d rather loose it in a healthier manner!
I’ve been trying to keep a positive, hopeful, encouraging, etc. attitude throughout this until the doctors can get to the bottom of things (both literally and figuratively), but it’s been really ‘trying’ at times.
I’m starting to wonder if what’s causing the ‘moments’ is not physical, but psychological/spiritual?
My childhood was filled with abuse (mom at home and then was that ‘kid that everyone picked on’ at school). While I’ve come a long way–I’m very different today then I was back in college about 15 years ago, I know I still have some baggage that I need to let go of.
I’ve made an appointment with a priest this Friday. And part of me is just scared to death to go.
I’m ‘afraid’ of men in ‘general’–guys were the ones who were really ‘mean’ to me growing up, and my natural instinct is not to share anything of a personal/sensitive nature to any man–and just because a man is a priest doesn’t make me feel any more ‘comfortable’.
Well a series of events led me to meeting this one priest who’s turned out to be the 5th man I’ve ever encountered that I have this intuition about that he’s different. I definitely can’t believe in coincidences anymore–especially since other things have been popping up lately where I feel God is trying to talk to me (just short of hitting me on my head with a log).
So I’ve made an appointment this Friday, and I need all your prayers that I’ll have the courage to go, and will be able to get everything out.
And if what’s going on inside is not causing the immodium moments, please pray that the doctors will find the reason soon!
Thank you,
Barbara
