In her Memoirs, Sister Lucy (Lucy Dos Santos) describes the vision of hell that Our Lady showed the children at Fátima in 1917:
*“She opened Her hands once more, as She had done the two previous months. The rays [of light] appeared to penetrate the earth, and we saw, as it were, a vast sea of fire. Plunged in this fire, we saw the demons and the souls [of the damned]. The latter were like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, having human forms. They were floating about in that conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames which issued from within themselves, together with great clouds of smoke. Now they fell back on every side like sparks in huge fires, without weight or equilibrium, amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fright (it must have been this sight which caused me to cry out, as people say they heard me). The demons were distinguished [from the souls of the damned] by their terrifying and repellent likeness to frightful and unknown animals, black and transparent like burning coals. That vision only lasted for a moment, thanks to our good Heavenly Mother, Who at the first apparition had promised to take us to Heaven. Without that, I think that we would have died of terror and fear.” *

Before I get to soul sleep, I must say this.
Lets start at John 3:16 shall we?
- John 3:16 says For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- Okay, John 3:36 says He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
- 1 Timothy 6:16 says Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Here are a couple of verses that speak about rewards.
Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Now please answer this question. How can one be in Heaven or hell if they have not recieved their reward from Christ? These verses clearly tell us that His reward is with Him and He will reward us at His second coming. He did not say He will reward some of us. He said EVERY man according to his works. According to the Bible, you can’t receive a reward twice.

Of course you can. The good thief was rewarded with Paradise on Good Friday. He will be rewarded when Jesus comes at the Last Judgement. Ditto for the poor beggar, Lazarus.
So your answer to a Protestant who asks you, “Do you believe that if you were to die right now, you will go straight to heaven?”, would be ???

Also, why in Acts 2, David is still buried and have not received a reward, but the thief and Lazarus have? According to your logic, the Bible is contradicting itself.

Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Both cities were burned with eternal fire. Are they still burning today? No. Eternal, everlasting, for ever…simply means, until something is completely burned up.
