Hello everyone. I hope everyone’s day is going well! Just a quick show of hands or personal opinions, when you pray for a relative who has passed away, do you imagine their faces or do you just say their name(s) and focus on the wording of the prayer instead?

Thank you and God bless you.

I think it doesn’t matter, whatever you feel more comfortable with. I personally name them but sometimes I remember their faces too.

There’s no set way to do it. If I’m in a hurry I might not have time for a lot of mental visualization, but given that I had my dad in my life for 26 years, my spouse for 33 years, and my mom for well over a half century, their faces and voices and all that are in my mind all day long anyway. Obviously if it’s a more relaxed prayer and I have more time I will picture the person if I knew them/ were close them (as I also pray for relatives of myself, my husband, and some family friends, who I never knew/ never saw in real life).

Pretty much anytime I think of my deceased loved ones, their faces pop into my head; that includes times of prayer. The exception is my grandfather who died at 29, three decades before I was born. I can’t picture his face, but I do still pray for him with love.
