First: I am as guilty as anyone of drifting off or losing focus during the Rosary. The one who should consider my words first is me. That being said, the hint I was getting from the OP is that this might be a repetitive pattern. If that is the case, then some type of change would be proper. We are to sleep in the comfort of the Lord, not to drift off while we are in communication with Him. If falling asleep during any prayer occurs more than rarely, then some personal adjustment in prayer routine is a good and helpful thing. Certainly, we mean no disrespect to God, but intent is only part of the equation here. The effect of our actions also comes into play. The Rosary in particular, involving our active contemplation, should be done while fully conscious and alert. A priest on EWTN advised recently that simply repeating the Hail Marys without truly reflecting on the associated mystery can border on vain repetition. The prayer’s true benefit is in the revelations that come to us in contemplation. So, if sleepiness is a problem, pray it earlier in the evening, when still alert, or in the morning, when well rested.
We are all on a journey here - all at different stages in the process of conversion. What seems second nature to me now seemed unreachable only a short time ago. So, let us pray those Rosaries, perfect or not, as we struggle to remain faithful along the narrow path.
