Give me one example of a saint that prays for us. Do not give me a half hearted example give me an example from the bible that describe a saint going up to God and praying for us.

To make it even easier for you to understand. An example would be. St. Pius goes to God and prays for people.

Do not give me a far out example, but a vivid undeniable example. One that says XXX goes directly to God and prays for us. Do not give me an example outside of the bible either.

I guarantee you no where in the bible does it say that a saint who is in heaven prays for us.

Go through every prayer in the bible you will never see anyone praying to a saint who is now in heaven. Jesus is more than a saint he is God part of the trinity so don’t you dare use Jesus as an example of a saint.

I’m am not debating this to hurt anyone who is catholic. I am bring this up to hopefully bring truth, so that some catholics can see the errors of the catholic church. I want you to live your christian life to the fullest and not be snared but any false doctrine of the catholic church.

In the book of revelation it clearly says that the prayers of saints are offered up to God. I dont have my bible with me but im sure some one will show you.

God bless

If I understand evangelical thought correctly, you as a christian are a saint and every time you pray for anyone you are a saint praying.
I am guessing, you enter heaven and are still a saint or are you demoted?
Help me out here.

Saints are also people who are currently on earth. The prayers offered up to God are the prayers of saints here on earth.

nope, Saints are humans who made it to heaven. We may call people saints here on earth but only earn that title once they reach heaven.

You trying to argue this using only Biblical examples won’t work with Catholics because we don’t rely on Scripture as our only source of divine revelation. So just because it’s not directly stated in Scripture proves absolutely nothing at all to Catholics.

I will help you out. I mean an example of a saint who is now in heaven.

Thank you bring this up. There lies a major problem with the catholic church. They like the mormons and others have decided that the bible was not good enough to defend their faith, so they added extra writting that defend their faith that contradicts the bible.

Isn’t odd that the extra writings, fill in the voids of the traditions of men? The extra writings of the Catholic serve only to strenghten the false doctrines of the Church. If a viewpoint can not be defended only with the Bible than that view is a false doctrine.

What ever you loose will be loose in heaven and whatever you bind will be bound in heaven.

St. Stephen was the one who said that prayer, not Jesus
Yes I know that and it goes to prove my point he was still here on earth. Thats great saints pray everyday to God here on earth. I am looking for a saint who is currently in heaven when he/she is praying to God while in heaven.

This is completely untrue. Most of these traditions were around as long as the Bible. some were around longer. They were not “invented” by the Church, they are recognized by the Church as being the Truth, which the Church has the power to do through the divine intervention of God and the promises Jesus made in the New Testament.

This is exactly right. I’d encourage the OP to read this and this, and then to keep in mind that it was the Catholic Church that gave him the Bible – the Canon of the Bible didn’t fall from the sky, it was developed by the Church through a series of councils of bishops. How did the Church know which books were divinely inspired, given that the books don’t say so and that there were scores of pretenders? Divine inspiration, same way all of the doctrines of the Church have developed.

By the way, shouldn’t this be in the Apologetics forum?

D’oh – a self-disproving statement!

Or else maybe you can point us to somewhere where the Bible discusses the Bible. (And no, I don’t mean just the Old Testament.)

Jesus gave this power to interept scripture to his apostles and Peter. He told him the gates of hell shall never previal against it. Jesus was not a lier. The Holy Spirit guides the church. Why you and countless other protestants have a million of interpetations of scripture all claiming to be the truth. We have stayed the same in teaching for over 2000 years!

What does it matter how long they have been around? People have been doing good and bad things forever, just because they have been doing it for along time does not make it right.

Thats is not what the bible says. Clearly in the bible people are called saints even while on earth. . There are catholics in authority who will even back this up and I will find examples for you if needed,

You are correct on this point, and so I hold that logically if we agree that while on Earth it is okay to ask other Christians to pray for us, this should not change when said people are in Heaven.
