I agree.Once you open Pandora’s box of private interpretation, the possibilities are endless. Not only do we need scripture’s context, but its fulness. The bible is a coherent whole, not just a box of theological chocolates from which we choose.
This is part of the teaching of Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, and their disciples in the Word of Faith Movement. Kenneth Hagin is widely believed to have plagiarized most of his teaching from E. W. Kenyon, a Baptist preacher who lived from 1867–1948. He studied acting for one year at Emerson School of Oratory in Boston, which at the time was a center of the New Thought Movement. Among some of his works are such titles as:And, just where did they get the “God needs faith” from?
In His Presence: The Secret of Prayer
Jesus the Healer: Has Brought Healing to Thousands
New Creation Realities
Wonderful Name of Jesus: Our Rights and Privileges in Prayer
You get the idea . . .
Prosperity teachers don’t shy away from teaching on the book of Job. It may not be obvious, but the story of Job can be used very effectively by prosperity teachers.Sounds much more like an invisible man than God. Spirits are definitely involved, but not in the manner they think. They themselves are following worldly spirits. Did Job ever once attempt to oppose God’s plan that good be brought from his devil-caused affliction?
