I was intending to pray the Rosary and do a good hour or so of prayer and meditation when something happened that made me mad and I said the Lord’s name in anger, and at the same time I managed to disrespect my Dad.
I know that I’ve sinned, and when I said Jesus’ name like that I felt really bad and I don’t feel like I can pray after saying.
Now I know that it’s ok to pray in a state of sin (there’s prayers before Confession and stuff), but it just doesn’t feel right. If mortal sin technically separates your relationship with God, would praying be pointless until I have Confession (the soonest opportunity I’ll get is on Saturday and I don’t want to wait that long to be able to pray again).
So, is saying Jesus’ name in vain a mortal sin? And if it is, is it ok for me to pray the Rosary?
