Are there any Protestant religions where pre-marital sex is OK?
Protestant religions? If you mean denominations, then yes, there are individuals who claim to follow Jesus who are misled by this, but anyone who claims to believe in God’s word is ignoring scripture, pure and simple. Are there any Protestant religions where pre-marital sex is OK?
Ideal? No. The best situation? No. But there are those that would not condemn someone for it. I know there are denominations that acknowledge there are some circumstances that may prevent a couple from marrying but they do live together. IF they do so, they are expected to hold the same standards a married couple would when it comes to fidelity, commitment, etc.
There is the sin of Adam and Eve, again - to be like God; to make our own personal definitions of good and evil.…there are some circumstances that may prevent a couple from marrying but they do live together.

“The same standards” would be to publicly declare and vow lifelong fidelity, openness to children etc. i.e. to get married.IF they do so, they are expected to hold the same standards a married couple would when it comes to fidelity, commitment, etc.

About the time my parents married they were unable to legally marry in their home state. If it had been an international and not a state border that would have been a circumstance. Many Islamic nations have injunctions against women marrying outside of Islam, that would be another example. “Don’t ask, don’t tell” isn’t nothing newconfused:Under what possible circumstances would a couple be forced to cohabitate in a de facto marriage without being married?
It seems my first post was lost. I would also point out that many churches will bless or marry same sex couple sometimes with and sometimes without the consent of the state. The question I ask is where Biblically, not traditionally, is the description of “married” what has to take place to transition from living together or fornicating into a married couple? Is it having a Priest saying you are married? Is it having a government clerk accept you as married? Does it take both accepting? If one doesn’t is it a sin?
I would say Churches don’t accept premarital sex, what they differ on is the definition of legal, valid and natural marriage
Which US State has a civil law prohibiting people from marrying who are fee to marry according to Church Law? In any case nobody HAS to get married and nobody HAS to fornicate or cohabitate. If the Church thought it appropriate that a couple be married she could bless their marriage without making it official according to civil law where the civil law would prohibit it.About the time my parents married they were unable to legally marry in their home state. I think you’re overcomplicating this. If a couple publicly and freely commit to living as man and wife in fidelity and openness to procreation for as long as they live, they are married. If not and they live as husband and wife they are fornicating. Marriage is derived from Natural Law and is prior to any civil State and its laws, even prior to the Church, although for Christians Christ raised marriage to the status of a Sacrament which the husband and wife administer to each other with the priest/deacon acting as witnessn (Eastern churches believe the priest confers the sacrament).I would say Churches don’t accept premarital sex, what they differ on is the definition of legal, valid and natural marriage

The leadership of the Episcopal Church probably has no problem with it whatsoever. Are there any Protestant religions where pre-marital sex is OK?

Why not? How dare we forbid a man and his lemur, if they are genuinely in love, to marry! That’s all that counts, isn’t it?But then again the Episcopal Church would have no problem allowing a person to marry a lemur either!![]()

Mark my words: by this time next year, we’ll have a noncelibate lemur consecrated as bishop. Why not? How dare we forbid a man and his lemur, if they are genuinely in love, to marry! That’s all that counts, isn’t it?

The newly consecrated Right Rv. King Julien welcomes Presiding Bishop Schori on state visit.
^ these are accurate representations, ladies and gentlemen. These are all future clergy.
And for the OP - since noncelibate homosexuals can be consecrated as bishops in TEC, and since the church leadership is so favorably disposed towards abortion rights and all forms of birth control, they would probably want to be the first Church to openly allow premarital sex.
No, it doesn’t sit well with some of us in the pews. It’s especially tough to teach the kids to save it for marriage when they say “but the bishop said it’s ok!”![]()
