From all appearences it looks as though only one was shamed to not walk or to be put on the graduation list.I said earlier I have all boys and unless they are held to higher standards these things are going to keep happening. It does appear that the punishment landed only on the girl and that is not right.
Yes, from appearances it seems that way. If true, I condemn it. However, the news people are not known for accuracy and as I said the school may know much more than we do and cannot speak about it.

Lisa4Catholics:
That is exactly why the radical feminist are so angry:nope: I am not one,but I will tell you as long as the man has no consequences then why in the world should they learn to respect women or take responsibility. The pregnancy is her scarlet letter, huh? With your example if the other person “got rid” of the stolen goods both would be in the clear, right?
The radical feminists are the main reason these boys don’t respect women or take responsibility anymore.

Who championed the pill?

http://bestsmileys.com/angry2/6.gifWhy was the father allowed and the girl not:eek: Yes the girl should have been obedient but the school was unjust by barring one and not the other:mad: Every week at the abortion mills I see the young girls go in:tsktsk: Dragged in by their "boyfriends"some upset and crying:tsktsk: Why was the father not subjected to the same punishment:mad: Fornication is a two way streethttp://bestsmileys.com/angry1/4.gifBaahhhh!:banghead:
Another reason why I think neither should have been banned. Of course, if I was the father of either, I would have banned him/her myself.

I will say again I am NOT a radical feminist, and the things they have done have hurt us,but if we allow these double standards you are going to push more women towards the angry radical position:nope: I mean the attitude that women are the only ones you can pin it on because the evidence is there:eek: Good grief, they did not get that way by themselves.

I agree with you. But tough cookies. That’s the way it is. It’s a vicious cycle prophesied by Pope Paul VI.

Women are “liberated” and therefore believe they don’t need a man around for their boy. Boy has no man to teach him how to be a man. Boy acts like boy until he dies, including impregnating women and not assuming responsibility. Lather, rinse, repeat.

What is the answer?

Girls, be a lady, boys, be a man. If you have kids, beat it into them. But until we reject contraception this cycle will not break.

But alas, none of this is the point. The point is she acted in dissent a right authority. That was wrong. Wither or not the authority acted prudently, WE CANNOT DETERMINE DUE TO OUR LACK OF INFORMATION.

Lisa,

I have stated many, many times that the boy is equally culpable. The point I find amazing is that certain people on this thread continue to point at the boy, and it seems clear to me that is being done to take the light off the girl…it is a classic case of bait and switch (if the boy was not punished, then that means the girl was right–very bad logic).

No matter whether the boy was ot was not punished, the article is about the pregnant girl and so is this thread. The girl was flar wrong to fornicate (yes so nwas the boy) and then she made her sin worse with her defiance.

Nope I stated earlier that she should have been obedient:nope: I did not say if the boy was not punished the girl was right, either:nope: I said if you punish one punish the other anything less is not right:mad:

the point is the school caused scandal by taking an action against one party and not the other. shame on them. shame, shame, shame.

Trelow im sorry but i take offense to your comment. your statements are dripping with anti female sentiment. Fix im afraid your conspiracy theory doesnt add up. that knife cuts both ways. what evidence do we have that the school did the right thing with her best interest at heart? what evidence do we have that the boy was even reprimanded? we have what we have and we form our opinions on this. this thread never stated that it was all about the girls defiance. the issue was simply brought to light, and we ran with it. so you shouldnt say what is allowed to be discussed and what isnt.

So now the school is to blame for causing public scandal due the sinful choices and behavior of two of the enrolled students?

No they are responsible for dishing out punishment to one and not the other if the whole story is there.:nope: Who said the school caused the two to fornicate?

Lisa,

The topic centers on the action taken against the girl–not the boy, and the fact that many people here continue to bring-up the boy is merely a bait and switch tactic intended to make people take their eyes off the girl.

katherine,

The scandal was caused by the girl and boy when their private sin became public with a visible pregnancy. I truly wish you would stop saying things about the boy that you just do not know. We only know for absolute certain that the girl/mother was disciplined…we cannot even be sure who the father is.

I agree, however, in difference to the poster who I responded to, the “point” is not the school’s choice of discipline (however apparantly double standard), but the open defiance by the student (and mother) to the discipline rendered by the legitimate authority of the school.

PS: My ears are ringing as I read you posts this thread. 😉

I totally disagree:nope: The topic may be about the girl being banned but in the article that started the thread brought to light the father was not punished in the same way the girl was:mad: I say again she did not get pregnant by herself, the father should have been included in the punishment:mad:

Lisa,

🙂 Respectfully, you are just plain wrong–the article said this about the father: ***The father of Cosby’s child, also a senior at the school, was allowed to participate in graduation. ***

The article did not say whether or not the school disciplined the boy in any way, nor does the article make it clear how they know anything about the father…you are making broad sweeping assumptions that are not in ther article.
