I’m waiting for this answer, too.

Meanwhile, I will remind CMatt that Obama had both the House and the Senate
Not only did Obama have Democrat-majority House and Senate, he had *filibuster-proof *majorities. He didn’t have to work with Republicans *at all *to get his plans through, he only had to work with *his own party, *and yet, many plans he promised during the 08 election were completely ignored.
and still did not pass some of his favorite legislation. You see, some of that legislation was not popular with his own democrats.
He did do some bold Presidential edicts that he had promised Planned Parenthood and
withdrew the Mexico City policy to allow the US to fund their abortions overseas.😦

It would have been very easy to get someone less biased than Crowley.

I thought Jim Lehrer did a good job. He didn’t insert himself and he let the candidates talk. I don’t want to hear the moderator because the moderator’s not running for office. I could not possibly care less what Candy Crowley has to say on any other day of the year.

The next and final debate will be very much like the first, an open one-on-one. Expect Obama to come out yelling on that one too. It obscures his record with a certain number of people who just want to see the aggression because they think that’s what politics is really about.
I do agree. Crowley is very biased and Jim Lehrer did a good job.
I don’t want to hear the moderator either because that is not the time for them. It is the time for the people to hear from the candidates not the moderators (reporters).

People seem today to like it when one yells and interupts. They seem to equate that with “guts”, though it takes more strength to hold your tonque and be polite, which politeness is what I saw from Ryan and Romney, especially Ryan.

So, yeah, you’re right people tune in to see the agression and they like that. Unfortunately.

Isn’t it ironic? The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the Park Service, part of the Department of the Interior, asks us to “please do not feed the animals” because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.
Our tax dollars hard at work:whacky:… we need to put this on billboards all over the country:thumbsup:

Jay Carney said on September 20th, 9 days after the terrorist attack in Benghazi that the white house had not called it a terrorist attack
Q Can you — have you called it a terrorist attack before? Have you said that?
Mr Carney: I haven’t, but — I mean, people attacked our embassy. It’s an act of terror by definition.
Q Yes, I just hadn’t heard you –
Mr Carney: It doesn’t have to do with what date it occurred.
Q No, I just hadn’t heard the White House say that this was an act of terrorism or a terrorist attack. And I just –
Me Carney: I don’t think the fact that we hadn’t is not — as our NCTC Director testified yesterday, a number of different elements appear to have been involved in the attack, including individuals connected to militant groups that are prevalent in eastern Libya, particularly in the Benghazi area. We are looking at indications that individuals involved in the attack may have had connections to al Qaeda or al Qaeda’s affiliates, in particular al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

I have no example off the top of my head of Republicans being willing to work with Obama. However Obama OTOH, though opposing the concept as he so clearly explained in the debate, agreed to extend the Bush tax cuts for the rich in his 1st term. Obama took single payer off the table. Said we have an employer based health care coverage system and were not starting over. And actually it’s a fallacy on this forum and elsewhere that in the real world Obama ever had a 60 vote Senate majority. The Democratic Party is a much more diverse party than what some of you are used to I think. Not every Democrat walks in lockstep nor are they expected to always tow the line.

Can you provide example of Obama willing to work with republicans? Obama would not compromse on budget despite a gridlock with democrats and republicans. Eric Cantor urged Obama to work with congress with little avail

Bush tax cuts are acoss the board, including for the middle class, they are not only for the wealthy

When the question was asked in the debate about womens pay, Romney should of mentioned that if Obama favours equal pay, and signed in to the law the Lily Ledbetter Act then why do women get paid less than men in the White House? Obama admin pays women an average $11000 less annually than their male counterparts, Nancy Pelosi pays her female staff nearly $27000 less on average compared to men and female senate democrats earn an average of $6500 less than men

By the way the only thing the Lily ledbetter act does is extend statue of limitation in lawsuits to 180 days after last cheque from employer from 180 days from claimed pay inequity. It was not a big reform to solve the issue of pay inequity
Maybe they don’t pay women the same so they can perpetuate the “war on women”
myth:shrug:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

How about the way Holder reached out to work with the Mexican Drug Cartels? And Obama executive privileged the whole thing.

I already did. Obama wants to extend the Bush tax cuts for everyone but the rich. Maybe you haven’t been paying attention.

Obama may have taken single payer off the table, but it is still the end goal. The way Obamacare is set up punishes companies and many will just opt out of covering their employees. Case in point… Olive Garden/Red Lobster will no longer be hiring full time so that they don’t have to insure them… ergo all those employees now have to opt into Obamacare.

You might think only individuals in the top two brackets will face higher federal income taxes if the Bush cuts evaporate. Unless Congress takes action and the president (whoever that is) goes along, rates will go up for everyone. Here is what will likely happen:
the existing 10% bracket will go away, and the lowest “new” bracket will be 15%
the existing 25% bracket will be replaced by the new 28% bracket
the existing 28% bracket will be replaced by the new 31% bracket
the existing 33% bracket will be replaced by the 36% bracket
the existing 35% bracket will be replaced by the 39.6% bracket

Pssst…the “Bush Tax Cuts” (Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 and Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003) were ACROSS THE BOARD tax cuts. They weren’t “for the rich”.

President Obama just wants to be selective about who he wants to keep those cuts for (in the middle of a recession, no less):

It was:
new 10% bracket was created for single filers with taxable income up to $6,000, joint filers up to $12,000, and heads of households up to $10,000.

the 15% bracket’s lower threshold was indexed to the new 10% bracket

the 28% bracket would be lowered to 25% by 2006.

the 31% bracket would be lowered to 28% by 2006

the 36% bracket would be lowered to 33% by 2006

the 39.6% bracket would be lowered to 35% by 2006

So, which ones were “the rich”???

Obamacare is a joke! Case closed.
This might offend people who like Obama, but what has he really done for our economy, and country as a whole… Nothing!! We need a change people! Since he has been in office; gas prices are up, food prices are up, unemployment is up, people on Federal assisted programs are up.

Its a dog and pony show.

As I’ve pointed out pointless times, this whole “soak the rich” policy would generate $48 billion over 10 years.

taxprof.typepad.com/files/joint-committee.pdf

For those keeping score at home, that’s exactly 7 days interest on the national debt.

Which we can add another $6.4 trillion to over the same 10 years, according to President Obama’s budget.

businessweek.com/news/2012-03-20/buffett-rule-tax-bill-would-raise-31-billion-over-10-years

And a very serious question: is 35% of anyone’s income, JUST for federal taxes not a “fair share”? Add another 6-10% state income tax, real estate tax, personal property tax, gas tax…etc.

Sometimes I think people conflate “hatred of people doing better than me” with “fair”.

Anyone else catch Obama saying"Lower gas prices are an indication of a thriving economy".This right after he stated for the umpteenth time that he inherited a lousy e onomy. Why then are gas prices at an all time high,if the economy is improving now confused:

I really wondered about his “gas prices were so low because the economy was about to crash” comment.

Seriously??? 🤷

To my knowledge Obama never put anything on the table in terms of a health care plan. If he did could you please direct me to it?

The economy had gone through the “crash” part, the stock market was on its way up and the recession ended in May 2009. It’s been the recovery that bears Obama’s stamp (or shovel imprint).

This was the first debate I’ve seen, and it was a huge blowout—for Romney. There wasn’t one point that Obama made in the entire 90 minutes that could have convinced me to vote for him, if I was undecided. Since I DO follow the issues, I was nauseated by Obama’s Big Lies about energy and Benghazi, among many others. This debate was simply competence vs. incompetence, to be charitable to Obama. :o Rob

For those who believe that Obama won, could you name one or two points that you thought were impressive? I didn’t hear any, despite Obama having his own referee resplendent in a “Re-elect Obama” blouse.

It wasn’t aimed at you - Obama’s performance was aimed at the uninformed. 🤷
