Rasmussen 49 R 47 O (and it’s a 3 day poll with only 2 days post debate)
The media polls showing Obama with a solid and consistent lead over Mitt Romney are only accurate IF the democrats equal or improve the turnout they had in 2008. That year, the Democrats had a 7 point advantage over the GOP at the voting booth. It was the Democrats biggest advantage over the GOP in the modern political age. I have long argued that the Democrats were unlikely to repeat their turnout advantage this year. Preliminary data from some key swing states suggests I’m right.
.In 2008, in the critical battleground of OH, Democrats had a 14-point advantage over the GOP on absentee ballot requests. McCain actually won the vote on election day in the state, but Obama’s advantage on early voting was so large we was able to win the state. This year, however, the Dem advantage is down to just 5 points so far
Romney did not force catholic hospitals to provide the morning after pill, he fought for Catholic hospitals to have religious libertyMitt Romney is guilty of the sin of scandal of tens of thousands of Catholic employees. Every time a Catholic hospital provides contraception, sterilization, or abortifacient services that sin is incurred by Mitt Romney, and every politician and activist that helped get Romneycare passed.
-My whole house of cards falls because this statement: Romney said. “In my personal view, it’s the right thing for hospitals to provide information and access to emergency contraception to anyone who is a victim of rape.” was made to a liberal paper? What difference does that make. He forced hospitals to sin because he wanted them to. His words don’t count if the paper he said it to was liberal? What on Earth?
Mitt Romney vetoed a bill requiring Catholic hospitals to administer emergency contraception.
• When the veto was overridden, the Romney administration used various arguments to explicitly exempt Catholic hospitals including through citing a state religious freedom law.
• An uproar occurs and Mitt Romney realizes he can’t win the battle legislatively or in the courts.
• He concedes not to explicitly exempt hospitals and his department of health implements the law with fine print that combined with a federal religious freedom law implicitly exempted Catholic hospitals, enabling Catholic hospitals to conform with teachings.
Jul 26, 2005 Romney vetos bill, makes argument against it:
Sep 16, 2005 Senate unanimously and house overwhelmingly override Gov. Romney’s veto:
(Lawmakers and proponents of the law fear the Romney administration will drag their feet on implementing the law, possibly taking weeks or months in spite of their rushing him and trying to help him get it implemented.)
Dec 7, 2005 Romney administration takes months to enact law during which they devise approach to exempt Catholic and other private institutions:
There is a huge uproar and opposition to the governor’s plan, and lawmakers vow to do whatever it takes to implement the law with no exceptions, from repealing state freedom of religion laws to fighting it in court…
The uproar includes members of Romney’s own administration as well as the attorney general (who is responsible to enforce and defend the law) and legislators…
Dec 8, 2005 Governor Romney then suggests that if Catholic hospitals must comply with the law, they can do so by simply giving people information on contraception so they can get it elsewhere, but that it is his opinion that they don’t even have to do that
More
Dec 9, 2005 After consulting his lawyers, Gov. Romney realized he could not win a battle to explicitly state in the law the hospitals are exempt.
He concedes to no explicit exemptions
Dec, 2005 The law was enacted by the Romney administration, but with wording the governor alluded to, allowing Catholic hospitals to navigate the law as the Caritas Christi spokeswoman in the previous quote stated.
This allowed private hospitals to remain true to teachings, and take advantage of a federal religious freedom law

Accuse me of the sin of vanity. Accuse me of the sin of pride. Accuse me of supporting abortion. Accuse me of being guilty of whatever sins you want.
I don’t have time for politics. I don’t have time for my brothers in Christ to accuse me and judge me of sin. Politics is making many of you behave in a way totally contrary to Christ to me. You (over a half dozen of the posters on this thread) are disobeying Christ in your treatment of me on these forums.

I have to say that I just read this entire thread. I see the argument many of you make about voting for Romney, IF only, to oust Obama. However these posts HAVE been very uncharitable to those who have disagreed. Aside from the fact that currently as Americans we are free to vote or not vote as we see fit… Semper Zelare does not seem entirely uninformed, and did not seem to have a bad conscience. He never said it was right to vote For Obama. He just disagrees that the only other choice is Romney.
I completely understand the feeling that Obama is a serious threat to the Church’s right to freely exercise and to the American way of life in general.
I am voting for Romney… but I would rather vote for Goode. I think the best way to fix our country AND protect our religious Liberty is to restore the Constitution to its rightful place…ergo, out of the trash.
I would like to call on everyone to look into those party platforms and inform themselves. Maybe in 4 years we can have someone to vote for that IS undeniably conservative and working for the best for every individual in this nation and is not controlled by our two-party false choice. Someone who Will bring our government back down to size.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d much rather give my money to the Church to redistribute than the federal government.
The Catholic Church has been attacked by both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. So, ***I ***won’t vote for either one. The two party system nominated two anti-Catholics. And the evidence I’ve provided convinces me, and it has convinced countless other people the many times y’all ask ***me ***to give my case. That’s my case.
In the movie “The Aviator”, Howard Hughes screams at the top of his lungs: “I WON’T SELL TWA!!! I WON’T!!!”
And it is with the same passion that*** I ***say: **"***I

I forgive all of y’all for your sinful treatment of myself, and pray that the Holy Spirit invades you, and crushes the hate in your hearts with a hammer and replaces it with Love.
I will not even look at this thread again. If you want to apologize for treating me in a totally un-Christ-like way, by accusing me of sin, then send me an IM to do so.
SemperZelare, I suggest you lose the self-referential, overwrought histrionic posts and think of this: this is not about you and all your perceived slights and insults. Its about our country and the unborn - who don’t deserve another 4 years of the most pro-abortion president in our history.
Fact#1: Obama will fight to keep abortion on demand, Roe V Wade, the law of this country.
Fact#2: Romney, with pro-life Catholic Paul Ryan as vice president, and Robert Bork at his side, will work to overthrow Roe V Wade so that states can finally protect the unborn legally.
That is the reality. Think of the unborn first, Semper Zelare, and then vote accordingly.

Which posts, and how have they been uncharitable, katcecelia?
as a former green party candidate for pa house of reps… ms. stein is anti war…I vote for none of the above. All are too pro-war for me, and a vote form them is tacit approval of their pro-war policies.
Semper Zelare, your postings are absolutely the reason why you NEED to make time for politics! You, along with Vanguardian and smndtupidisaftr have expressed some outside-the-box thinking that I find to be refreshing. And don’t take anything on here personally - everyone’s entitled to to give an opinion - and pretty much anyone who expresses disfavor toward our lesser-of-the-two-evils voting pattern has been called names.I don’t have time for politics. If you’re against abortion then you cannot vote for Romney or Obama. IF that is the ONLY issue you are talking about. I was told by the Bishop if neither candidate is truly pro-life vote for the one who is the lesser evil. Very sad but true. Romney made millions off of aborted babies and Obama doesn’t do anything to stop abortion, but neither did Bush, Regan, or anyone else in office. The war on the unborn is the worst of all - we have a chance to oppose the war by voting effectively against Obama - i.e. voting for Romney.
A vote for Gary Johnson is a wasted vote - unless you’re very passionate about smoking dope legally. Virgil Goode? I have no idea who he is. The election is between Obama the abortion supporter and Romney - the businessman who wants Roe V Wade overturned. This is a no-brainer for Catholics interested in the sanctity of life. The election is too serious, too much at stake to waste one’s vote on a silly 3rd party candidate. Obama and his anti-Catholic policies need to be defeated. Voting for Virgil Goode, Gary Johnson, or not at all, won’t defeat Obama.

The general tone of the posts were becoming quite confrontational.
Additionally, my conscience also tells me I must vote for Romney, as the lesser of the evils.
But she’s very pro-abortion, and I disagree with her economic positions vehemently.as a former green party candidate for pa house of reps… ms. stein is anti war…

It’s always hard to defend a position that’s isn’t popular, but just think about all the people viewing this thread who have not commented who might be reflecting on some points you’ve made.
(I personally came into this thread late and was feeling too lazy to go back and address some posts I agreed/disagreed with, so I’m showing some support for you now.) :console:
Irishgal, how did Romney “make millions off of aborted babies” ? There is no “perfectly pro-life candidate” to support. True believers will always find something to condemn about a candidate who is pro-life. Bottom line: Obama voted to support partial birth abortion. Romney will nominate justices who will vote to overturn Roe V Wade. Keep that in mind.If you’re against abortion then you cannot vote for Romney or Obama. IF that is the ONLY issue you are talking about. I was told by the Bishop if neither candidate is truly pro-life vote for the one who is the lesser evil. Very sad but true. Sad world we live in. So I chose my candidate but none are truly the pro-life people they claim.
