It seems likely that a Pittsburgh priest would not exonerate himself because this would involve saying what he heard in confession. Priests are not allowed to tell anyone what they have heard in confession for any reason. The priest was fired from his school job, and he could be put on trial and dismissed from his order. But now it has come out that a student at the priest’s school has told police and canonical investigators, and finally the Pittsburgh daily newspaper, that he had downloaded pornography onto the priest’s computer, which was later found there, and got the priest in trouble. The student told the priest in confession that he put pornography onto the priest’s computer.
