The Nuns have said themselves that as CELIBATE WOMEN, they believe they HAVE NO PLACE in matters of sexulaity such as when it comes to contraceptives or with homosexual marriage. These Nuns speak the truth. The Church Hirearchy are intimidated by these good women.

I’m not ignoring ANYONE!!!

I just don’t know if someone is asking a question or making a statement.

I’m not a practicing Catholic?

Did not Christ say judge not and you shall not be judged?
Did not Christ say the first without sin shall cast the first stone?

Were all sinners. Homosexuals are just like you and I and there are many Gay Christians who are followers of Christ. This is America, we have freedom here.

We have a SEPRERATION of CHURCH AND STATE! If you want prayers in school, go to a Catholic school. This is a diverse country. Very diverse. Prayer does not belong in public school classrooms.

The truth as defined by whom?

Also, Christ was celibate. He told the adulterer to stop sinning. According to you (and those nuns who deny their Church), He had no right to do that.

By the way, can you please address my post on the previous page? Post #95 here: forums.catholic-questions.org/showpost.php?p=9507826&postcount=95

I’d like to hear what you have to say to that.

P.S.: I won’t be replying as much (if at all) tonight, so please be patient.

I have been correcting your points using official Church Teaching, the Church Fathers and even Scripture. Respond to my previous posts without saying ‘that’s mean!’ and explain why you Philosophically/Theologically disagree with me (and the Church) and we can continue the dialogue, and hopefully bring you into full understanding why the Church teaches what it does.

Those nuns are modernist and relativist, I have the suspicion if the late Holy Father St Pius X have called the Second Vatican Council an anathema would be attached to the view points they hold. They are not in line with the Catholic Church, they must either submit in obedience, or continue being defiant and face canonical penalty. The Church is not a democracy, the Church is the Monarchy of God as the Kingdom of David with the Bishop of Rome as the Steward to the Throne (as prophesied in Isaias 22:22).

EDIT: I am done for this morning (it’s past 4am here!) as I am completely drained, if you do reply don’t expect me to reply until tomorrow night (give me 12 hours or so) we can either carry on here, start a new topic (Traditional Catholicism or Apologetics) or you can PM me and I shall reply to you there.

May God Bless You

Not necessarily. We honestly do not know who is destined to Hell. Only God knows if they truly admit to heresy. Also, they may well confess. Who knows? I certainly don’t. We can only hope for heretics who openly deny Christ’s teachings.

As I said before in this thread:

Why should we have murder illegal then? After all, I believe murder wrong. Just like abortion. But why don’t we legalize someone intentionally killing another person?

*“Mainstream” * society does not see it as murder OR sees it as a necessary evil.
I may disagree with that. In fact I do disagree with that, but I must respect “mainstream” soicety.

LEGALLY Speaking…I’m taking legally not theologically…murder is only considered “muder” only if it viable outside the womb. Thats what the law says. I believe abortion destoyies life and kills life.

“I believe abortion is wrong, but it shouldnt illegall” is the same as saying “I believe abortion is wrong, but it shouldn’t be illegal” or “I think rape is wrong, but it shouldn’t be illegal.”

^ That didn’t make any sense. Sorry.

The Popes for the last 2,000 years say that abortion should be illegal. Why listen to a priest compared to the popes? Pope Benedict XVI - an expert theologian, scholar, intellectual - believes it should be illegal. Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the most appreciated cardinal in the US, believes this as well.

As I said before, morality and legality are two sperate issues. If this is what the American people want, than so be it. I’ll respect that. The United States is a Democratic Republic. People came to this country to escape religious persecution. We live in a diverse country, and if we include different religious doctrine in the American legal system, than it’s not going to be fair to other religions and if we include ALL religions, than it will be hard to be fair. Example: There are three versions of the Ten Commandments…There’s the Jewish Version, there’s the Catholic version, and there’s the Protestant version, so it will be hard to erect three different versions of the Ten Commandments on public property.

First, it’s spelled “unnatural.”

Second, I expected this “retort” from you. That is why I said that natural law “does NOT mean “law of nature” in the environmental sense.”

Natural law means, basically, that everything should try to act by its natural purpose. If you see a bulimic, you would say that they are perverting the natural purpose of the digestic system. Same thing with the sexual organs. The penis and vagina have a natural match - perfect for each other - to reproduce. To use the penis for gay or anal sex, or masturbation, is a perversion of the natural purpose of the male genitals. To use the female genitals for masturbation, or lesbian sex, is a perversion of the natural purpose of the vagina. Simple as that.

Next time, try to understand what it is meant when you debate. The natural law has NOTHING to do with shaving, celibacy (which Christ praised, by the way, since it is a sacrifice to give up our inclination; same with fasting).

Okay, I respect your views…but…as humans were are “above” nature to some extent. Nature doesn’t nessirily control us. As Humans, we do many things against nature. That’s our nature, and that’s okay…

Does that include pedophiles, bulimics, mentally unstable psychopaths, rapists, incestuous relationships? Why stop at gays?

The thing is, is that the words mentioned above are sicknesses, diseases, and disorders. Why? Because they’re hurting themselves and others. However homosexuality isn’t hurting anyone and gays aren’t hurting themselves.

As so do we. But we love the sinner, not the sin. When Christ caught the women in adultery, he didn’t say “Keep doing what you’re doing, I love you no matter what.” He said: “Go, and sin no more.”

Okay. respectable comment. Adultery is not the same as homosexual acts. But that’s just me, but I respect your comment.

Please see above.
Thank you.

Peace and Blessings.

Laamiccwint, do you believe the Bible was inspired by God and/or the Holy Spirit? If you do, the fact that Jesus didn’t mention things like homosxuality, abortion, etc. doesn’t hold much water, as homosexuality is mentioned and though abortion isn’t directly mentioned, it isn’t particularly difficult to connect the dots. The Bible isn’t a book of Jesus quotes. Loving someone isn’t the same as allowing sin. In fact, if you love them, you should kindly and compassionately try to turn them away from sin. I think that you should talk to a priest or reading the Catechism so our position can be better understood and you can see why we do what we do.

Thank you.

Peace and Blessings.
I’m going to head to bed after this. I’ll comment tomorrow more thoroughly. First, though, I’ll just say that you shouldn’t use legal arguments in theological debates. That gives your side no bearing.

Second, “natural” in “natural law” doesn’t mean Nature in the modern sense, like trees, leaves, oceans. “Natural” here means a deeper meaning. It’s very theogically complicated: the natural law is humanity’s participation in the Eternal Law (that is, God’s Law). I’ll explain more tomorrow if you want me to.

Third, I mistyped one of my arguments. It should say:

“I believe abortion is wrong, but it shouldnt illegall” is the same as saying “I believe murder is wrong, but it shouldn’t be illegal” or “I think rape is wrong, but it shouldn’t be illegal.”

Does that make more sense? My point is that if you think something is morally wrong, you have an obligation to tell the State to stop it.

Fourth, and last, Truth and morality isn’t defined by a show of hands or a ballot box. If it were, then Christ would’ve been nothing more than a blasphemous rabbi. After all, there was a large majority when the crowd, before Pontius Pilate, yelled “Crucify him! Release Barabas!”

I’ll comment on the rest of the reply tomorrow.

The Bible was also used to say people of Color were inferior to thw White Man. Does the Mark of Cain ring any bells to anyone? The Bibles also condones slavery. Does anyone remember slavery? The Bible was also used to treat Women as inferior to Man.

The Bible is full of methaphors and it should be used for inspirations and reflections. The Bible is full of very beautiful texts. The Bible is poetic.

You see, the Bible has been used countless times to commit atrocities against people.

I’m saying that one day, and I"m pretty confident in my lifetime, and since the human life span is becoming longer, I’m sure you older adults will see the day when Christianity will fully embracy homosexuals.

Amen.

Peace and Blessings.

Okay, good day…or good night. 🙂

Fair enough…I respect that…

I’m saying that if “mainsteam” society or if the “majority” of (American) society believes this (abortion) should be legal, I’ll respect that and agree with that. However, I still believe it as immoral and wrong. Isn’t believing it as immoral good enough?

Whats wrong with American nuns choosing to serve their communities instead of campainging against controversial social issues? Good night.

Peace and blessings.

Okay, now I’m really confused. Are you a Christian? If so, do you use your own interpretations of the Bible? No offense, I’ve just never heard a Christian talk about the Bible that way.

Being the public face of the Catholic Church in many communities, they should support and disapprove of things in accordance with the law of the Catholic Church.
