If it is any consolation, this appears to be a burglary gone wrong and not any kind of hate crime.

My prayers go out to the good people of the Diocese of Phoenix Arizona. May the Lord look after the soul of the slain priest with mercy and love. Console the parishoners who mourn for his loss too. Jesus, Joseph, and Mary pray for us and the parish in Arizona.

Although there was a statue of Mary vandalized at another parish in a different part of the valley a few days before this happened.
I am part of this diocese and we are all shocked by this.
The church where the priests were attacked is not in the best part of the city.The police are not releasing a lot of information.

I hope they will learn more this week.
 
Michelle Arnold posted on her Facebook page last night that speculation is emerging that this was, in fact, religiously motivated, and not a botched burglary. Does anyone have a link that supports this speculation?
 
The police said rhey will release more information later.
I saw a picture. He is in his 50’s.

So happy they made an arrest!
