The janitor who confessed to the stabbing death of a New Jersey pastor was about to be booted from his job of 17 years, school officials have told investigators.
Police investigating the death of the Rev. Edward Hinds are also looking into whether a 911 call from the Chatham priest was bungled.
Officials with St. Patrick’s Church parochial school believe Hinds was set to tell Jose Feliciano, 64, that he was being fired from his job because of parish financial woes, a lawyer for the Paterson Diocese told The Star-Ledger of Newark.
It’s unclear if that conversation ever took place.
