Thank you! With our Lord reserved in the Tabernacle, each Sunday (or vigil) mass may be thought of as a holy hour spent in our Lord’s presence. Do we chatter and catch up on family news, sports scores, etc. at holy hour? Certainly not.

The mass is even more crucial, as it is the Sacrifice which saves (present tense) the world. Ii is also true that Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest, best-kept secret in the Church - in fact, in all of Christendom.

Miracles occur there: for many, the miraculous revelation that Christ is truly and substantially present.

I’m glad the priest protested and corrected the newspaper…but it’s not just the media…similar things are said by the general populace, including a high office holder who once said, “When I drink my little wine — which is about the only wine I drink — and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed,” he said. “I think in terms of ‘let’s go on and let’s make it right.’”

I have the opinion that mention was a lightly veiled jab at the sacrament by the paper. And with the response, it’s offense worked.
I knew someone that liked to call the host either “The death cookie”, or worse, “JEEZ-ITS”. Their offense worked well also.
Dominus vobiscum
