I wasn’t saying it was correct, I just thought it was interesting that a Catholic publishing company would actually publish this. Hopefully the kids don’t think that Advent is blue.
I pray that they rather will know who God is, Jesus is, please such nonsense. I rather hope and pray they know the meaning of Advent period.

You wonder why there is no peace in the world. Such vainty and pride of flesh.

Rather worry that we will one day be dressed in white in the presents of God.

God Bless

Thank you, Volodymyr 988 for the photo of the Pope in blue vestments.
Actually, the vestments were Gold with blue edging. Gold is a permitted litugurical color outside of Advent or Lent (which the Mass at Mariazell certianly was)

In addition, the Holy See has certainly approved blue for use on Marian Feasts in various locations. So the use of blue vestments on Marian Feasts at Marian shrines is not without precedent and no one here objects in any way

Now the question, has anyone shown a picture of a Pope wearing blue (not gold with blue) during Advent?

( Oh yeah, one more thing, the vestments were given to Pope Benedict to wear, along with all the other priests and bishops present at Mariazell

The Pope has since removed the Bishop responsible for choosing the vestments at that occasion.
In times past before color-fast dyes the color of a purple garment would generally fade over time to a bluish color. You can’t regulate away natural events.
True, but you can redye the fabric, and using a relatively cheap black dye restored the purple.

I mean why is there a topic like this one to start with. Simply to me what is important is knowning my Lord and Savior. That is what I meant. It is not my authority to decide, but the Catholic Church who is our authority who decides the vestment colours etc.

God Bless

Vestments are expensive, I can see where if the church used the blues last year why they are using the same this year.

But, I’d like to know how they got them in the first place.

Why would a Catholic supply house even carry vestments in blue, which is not a recognized liturgical color?
Where did they get them? Easy answer. Over 90% of the vestment/liturgical/church goods suppliers and stores are owned and operated by protestants. In fact, it is rumored that one of them is actually owned by a non-christian group!

Just a little fun fact for everyone to think about!🙂

That’s great, but if all of the threads were about “knowing your Lord,” then quite frankly, everyone would leave. Variety of topics is essential to an online forum. We are in the Liturgy and Sacraments section, so this issue is very relevant. The Priests are required to wear the correct sacred vestments.

If you do not have anything to add to the discussion besides criticism, please find another topic.

I hope you do not take this as yelling or anything, but realize pointless posting is not helping anyone. And you do not need to post like 5 times in a row. If you need help understanding the forums, please message me. You can do stuff such as editing a previous post, so that the thread does not get overly cluttered.

Thank you kindly for you are right. I am new, not that I am making excuses for my action, I truly did not know how it works. Thank you and I would very much like to be respectful to others. For I did not know how topics or how the forum works or even what section I was on. Please explain and educate me on this.

I will take you up on your offer if you would message me on editing post.

No, I did not take it as yelling but only it was “very concerning” of you, not only for me but for others on this forum Thank you.

But as far as criticism that was not my intention for my statement.

God Bless thank you kindly for you help

One of the beautiful things about our Catholic religion is that you can walk into a church anywhere in the world right now, and see the same color altar cloths and vestments, hear the same readings, etc

Sounds like you’re complaining that you see purple everywhere EXCEPT this church–which contradicts your “one of the beautiful things” being uniformity.
Beauty doesn’t exclude norms for us to comply.
How would you like to be with a very beautiful woman who would however hate you absolutely? Beauty ISN’T everything!!!

Yes-- blue vestments are a stolen quasi-liturgical invention. They were taken from the Episcopal Church after it’s liturgical/prayerbook revision in the 70’s. At this time, blue was made a colour for Advent in some Episcopal churches, along with a dark red (ox’s blood) for Pentacost season. Some Catholic Churches, sadly, copied this liturgical outrage. :nope:

But what’s really sad, is, the priest at my parish celebrates Advent in white vestments! :nope:
Well, you’re not going to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception or of a saint who was not martyred in a colour other than white!!!

It’s true that in the Old Testament there are all sorts of instructions about Temple worship. But Jesus was mute on the subject except for his denunciations of Pharisees and Saduccees who insisted on ritualistic details.
I am afraid,Roy 5, that you miss Jesus’ point. He was not against complying with the rubrics of the Temple celebrations! Rather, it was about condemning people for wrong reasons and taking repentance and conversion way too lightly! How following the norms in itself can be against God?
Now, using the wrong colour can be purely accidental, and then you can blame it on distraction only. But in the case of a priest using blue when it’s not allowed, and if he knows it perfectly, it’s worse than just an accident, it seems to me!
