Priest with speech impediment ; is Mass still valid?

I was recently at a daily Mass where the priest had some type of disability involving his speech. He said things such as “as we celery this Eucharist”, “for you and for money”, “companions on the Germany of life”. It was clear that he was not intending to go against any rubrics. Is the Mass in this case still valid? I wasn’t sure.

He may have a medical condition or is on medication that could be affecting his speech.

Are you sure he doesn’t just have an accent?

What if he means “for you and for money”?

If you honestly think a priest would speak like that from the sanctuary, then I don’t know what to tell you.

I find your post a little disrespectful to be honest this man cannot help how he says the words but I am sure mass is valid. My advice is be more tolerant of people and be thankful that this man is brave enough to stand up and say mass.

I have a son with a speech disorder and, honestly, I can’t find the words to express how angry I am. I would thrilled beyond imagination, if my son were someday able to speak clearly enough to be ordained as a priest! What an insult to all the people who stutter, stammer and have to work really hard to make themselves understood using spoken language. Of course the mass is valid - the priest is ordained.

At my parish, all the priests have accents. The main priest speaks really softly that you miss half the words in the homily, despite his accent. One of the weekend associates has a really thick accent and I have a hard time following the homilies some times because I’m just not accustomed to his voice yet.

However, it’s my local parish and I stick with it because I come to Mass to worship and spend time with Jesus.

No judge people on the fact that they speak differently than I do.

I remember one of the Early Medieval Christian authors (perhaps, Venerable Bede) was complaining about priests contemporary to him being poorly versed in Latin, often saying “In nomine Patris et Filiae et Spiritus Sancti” - “In the name of the Father, the Daughter and the Holy Ghost”.

Yes, but in a silent Mass, how many would hear that?
