"Priests come to Obama's defense"

One assertion made in this article hint that opposition to Obama’s ND visit is
racism.

Here is an example of what some priests did to encourage Catholics to vote for Obama.

I can truly say that this was not even a thought for me, but I did have some people tell
me that “…those people deserve a chance.” I was flabbergasted but saw that some.

No one told me that they were not voting for Obama because of race .

Okay, now this is another change and I’m not sure how to get the link to come up.
Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong? Have to get ready for an appointment and
don’t have time to figure it out now.

oiy vey–if we’ve learned anything in the last few decades about some of our “priests” and “nuns” are misguided to be charitable. Somehow, charity and adherence to Church doctrine eludes them.

“These people?” Did she mean people like Ambassador Keyes? Or just pro-abortion people?
 
The article is long on emotion and short on facts. Mr. Obama was the one who said he would not want his daughter punished with a child. Mr. Obama is also the person who is sweeping away all restrictions on abortion.

I think the priest has a natural friendship that keeps him from looking at the issue in the clear light of day. That is normal to some extent. We all look at friends in the best way possible, but I simply cannot understand minimizing Mr. Obama’s stance, especially his using taxpayer funds to pay for abortions. If I were a priest, I hope I would at least not identify myself as such when speaking out in favor of a person who is that hostile to the unborn.

The Rev. Bill Stenzel, 64, who ran Obama’s program out of his parish, added, “It certainly is not the first time that a president who is not in full conformity with the church in all things will speak at the university.”

The two priests and lay minister Jerry Kellman disagree with Obama’s position on abortion, but they say it’s not as hardline as his critics portray it.

“I distinctly remember hearing him say on the campaign trail that he doesn’t know anybody who’s pro-abortion,” Stenzel said. “He doesn’t view abortion as a positive, good thing. It needs to be addressed in ways that can make a difference. His approach wouldn’t be all that different than the approach we might take in any parish: How do we bring people together? I see him as committed to reducing the rate of abortion.”

All three men say they are hopeful about Obama’s task force seeking to find common-ground ways to reduce the numbers of abortions in America.

“The Obama administration will cut the number of abortions – historically they go down percentage wise under Democratic presidents,” Kellman said.

Statistics show the abortion rate climbed under Presidents Reagan and Bush (the elder who is not as pro life as the son) until 1990 and have been dropping since.

There are new statistics showing abortions going up again with the availability and that does not show the new chemical abortifacients now available even to our children.:eek:

The Obamaist line is that making abortion more readily available will reduce the number of abortions. :confused:

I think she meant people like Obama who are black and “pro-choice”, Ambassador
Keys did not qualify, I did ask about him and Michael Williams and Michael Steele.

While I may disagree with Alan Keyes on a whole host of issues, and I may not like the way he does things, I can’t say that he violates Church Teaching on anything that’s NOT an issue for Prudential Judgment

ABORTION is NOT an issue for PRUDENTIAL JUDGMENT, and that’s the problem with the rest of the people you listed. They’re all Pro-Abortion. They all believe the murder Innocent Children in their mother’s wombs must remain legal, and that Doctors should be forced to perform the Murders.

They can use all the Serpentine Semantics they want about how the number of Abortions allegedly went down during the Clinton Administration. They deliberately ignore the cultural changes that occurred during the same time, as well as other “contravening variables”. But, None of these can cover up the fact that these “Dissident” Catholic Priests are actively supporting and defending a man who is arguably the most pro-abortion President our country has ever elected.

There are articles, papers, and even the text of the Bill that ended up becoming Law AFTER Obama left the Illinois State legislature (It’s been declared to be Constitutional), but I wanted to concentrate on WHAT OBAMA SAID AND DID. This is undeniable. No amount of Serpentine Semantics or Diabolic Dialectic can change that. No amount of “saying it isn’t so” can make it “NOT SO”.
