Priests Demand Pelosi Renounce Catholicism After Abortion is “Sacred Ground” Comment

lifenews.com/2013/06/20/priests-demand-pelosi-renounce-catholicism-after-abortion-is-sacred-ground-comment/
…“You speak here of Catholic faith as if it is supposed to hide us from reality instead of lead us to face reality, as if it is supposed to confuse basic moral truths instead of clarify them, and as if it is supposed to help us escape the hard moral questions of life rather than help us confront them,” Father Frank Pavone continues in the letter. “Whatever Catholic faith you claim to respect and practice, it is not the faith that the Catholic Church teaches. And I speak for countless Catholics when I say that it’s time for you to stop speaking as if it were.” …
… The letter from Pavone concludes: “Mrs. Pelosi, for decades you have gotten away with betraying and misrepresenting the Catholic faith as well as the responsibilities of public office. We have had enough of it. Either exercise your duties as a public servant and a Catholic, or have the honesty to formally renounce them.” …

God bless Priests for Life.

And thanks for yet another reminder to pray for this woman.

**I pray for the soul of every Catholic politician that publically renounces the teachings of the Church on faith and morals.

The gates of eternal life are only a hearbeat away.**

Long long overdue. Why did the Bishop even bother with speaking at the dnc convention when it was an abortion platform???

Trully. What recourse was left for the Church to take in regard to the rabid feminist, Pelosi?

May God have mercy on her soul indeed.

This is quite unbelievable, what these priests are doing. Such men have no right nor reason whatsoever to demand of anyone that they renounce the Catholic faith, and may God have mercy on their souls. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I think these “priests” are making a “mortal” mistake. It is time for someone, man or woman, to inform the clergymen of the Catholic Church that they do not decide everything nor do they know everything.

When a Catholic clergyman is threatened with pregnancy and actually raises a child of his own, I’ll be happy to accept their stance on abortion. While I am pro-life, I’m not pro-life because the Roman Catholic Church told me to be, but because God did.

Honestly, Pelosi’s problem is the same problem that almost ALL politicians that happen to be Catholic have. Especially in Congress (and most especially in the House of Representatives), politicians have been forced to place party platform above all else in order to be elected - above what their religion teaches, above what their country needs, above EVERYTHING. Their party platforms have become their idols, and they are forced to believe whatever their party dictates that they are to believe. Unfortunately, this causes the souls of many, if not most, of our elected leaders to be in mortal danger. The Democrats have come to believe that intrinsic evils are intrinsic goods, while the Republicans have forgotten their duty toward their neighbors. Like all idols, the party platforms of both major parties lead to destruction. And though it is considered morally better to vote for sins of omission (Republicans) than sins of commision (Democrats), sins are still sins.

And I believe that this, in essence, is why 52% of Catholics voted for Obama - for many of us Catholics, our consciences are torn in two when voting.

can we get priests to demand that Obama renounce that he is even Christian ?

May I just say that I am a democratic-socialist, yet I follow all the church’s teachings. Your political generalizations are incorrect, as are most Catholics’. Obama, to me, is the best president for our time. Don’t expect in this day and age that a decent, honest, and faithful politican will come along.

One cannot be a socialist and follow Catholic Church teachings. A simple google of what the Church and Popes have said about socialism in the past should put an end to that line of thinking. You can look at this for starters: tfp.org/tfp-home/catholic-perspective/what-the-popes-have-to-say-about-socialism.html

As for Obama being the best president of our time, how can you possibly reconcile that with the Catholic Church’s teachings regarding abortion and same-sex marriage? If you truly believe, as the Catholic Church teaches, that life begins at conception and that any taking of that life is murder, then to approve of a leader that supports this atrocity does not fall in line with Catholicism in any way, shape, or form.

Why do you focus on the social issues and not the economic issues? While I disagree with the pro-choice stance, I do respect it as with the same-sex marriage stance. Supporting same-sex marriage will not send me to hell, especially if I live a holy life. Obama has repaired our economy in the best way since Bill Clinton. He is responsible, reasonably honest, and he performs well under certain pressure.

As for socialism, my friend, you a greatly misunderstood. I believe in the distrubution of wealth, which essentially is socialism. How can you accept the gap that has divided America due to the greedy outcome of merciless monopolies and trusts?

Let me just say though, I do agree with things such as personal property and the ability to construct a business. The economy, however, should be regulated. Much money should be donated to the poor in order to get them “off their feet.”

There is a difference between demanding someone renounce their faith, who is authentically trying to live the faith, and demanding someone to stop purposefully misrepresenting the faith when such a misrepresentation does harm to the faith and its followers.

If she can’t do the the latter, then yes, she should renounce the faith and stop actively leading others astray.

There is nothing wrong with rebuking someone who supports evil, and does it repeatedly in the name of Catholicism, falsely.

If you notice, the priest first gives her the option to actually hold true to Catholic teaching. If she purposefully opposes what Catholicism teaches, then why should she call herself or her ideology “Catholic.” It’s a lie.

So because a priest can’t have a child they have no right to defend the rights of the unborn??? That’s absurd. But that’s not even the point.

Pelosi is misrepresenting what Catholics believe and fight so hard for. Practicing Catholics are just supposed to sit back and watch her trample over our faith in the public square so she can further her agenda at our expense? I think not.

Oh and priests are pro- life for the same reason you are. Not sure what your point is.

God bless.

I see your point, but I don’t think you understand my point. If you wish to debate this further, my Skype is “jackgoldwrecker” or “Jack Goldwrecker.” As I am tired and sick of replying after waiting, I will not continue. If you wish to debate on Skype if you have it, so be it!

Thank you for this debate, and God bless you.

The social issues I spoke of (abortion and same-sex marriage) are intrinsic evils. Economic issues are not. Whether you agree with the Catholic Church or not is between you and God, but that is what the Church teaches. Hitler could have had a booming economy, but that wouldn’t have made him a good leader.

And regarding socialism, you must not have looked at what the previous popes said about it (and I was even nice enough to provide a link). It is not I that am misunderstood, but apprarently all of the previous popes who have spoken on the matter. I suggest you take it up with them.

Maybe I don’t understand your point, but I stand by mine.
I am sorry I do not have Skype.
Have a good night, however.
God bless!

I mean no disrespect, but I do not see how the distribution of wealth is evil. And I also must point out that same-sex marriage is not “evil,” as it is impossible as it is not a living thing, nor an object, but a concept. I only support the “right” to marry anyone you wish, not the actual homosexual acts, which is what the Catholic Church is against.
