Even President Obama is coming around to the Pro Life stance. In Obama’s 2013 State of the Union Address President Obama quite clearly and unequivocally stated that “All men are created equal!” If such is so, and it is so, and since Science dictates that creation commences at conception and furthermore therefore Logic then dictates, it must dictate, that abortion is Premeditated Murder in the First Degree.

The social issues I spoke of (abortion and same-sex marriage) are intrinsic evils. Economic issues are not. Whether you agree with the Catholic Church or not is between you and God, but that is what the Church teaches. Hitler could have had a booming economy, but that wouldn’t have made him a good leader.
I’ve always wondered, as a hypothetical question - if Hitler was running today’s US as a “pro-life” (meaning against abortion but endorsing genocide) candidate for the GOP and was running against a Nancy Pelosi (for abortion but against genocide), who would the church say was the lesser of two intrinsic evils?
And regarding socialism, you must not have looked at what the previous popes said about it (and I was even nice enough to provide a link). It is not I that am misunderstood, but apprarently all of the previous popes who have spoken on the matter. I suggest you take it up with them.
Honestly, JPII spoke out against BOTH socialism AND unbridled capitalism, saying that both objectify people - socialism makes people objects of the State, and unbridled capitalism makes people objects to attain the Dollar, and any economic system that makes people objects is wrong. There is nothing wrong with making money, but the system must have incentives for people to share their own money with those who need it, instead of incentivizing an increasingly smaller group to have an increasingly larger percentage of wealth. Actually, unbridled capitalism can actually cause socialistic ideology by the people hurt by unbridled capitalism wanting the State to force the small amount of wealthy people to share their money.

Thank You, Priests for Life.

Any “Catholic” politician that supports Murder (aka Abortion on Demand) is Catholic in name only. Not only is such a person an accomplice to Murder and a Tyrant, but such a person is already excommunicated automatically and the Bishops need to start denouncing these frauds publicly, just like the courageous German Bishops of the 1930’s spoke up forcefully against and publicly excommunicated “Catholics” supporting Nazism.

This is quite unbelievable, what these priests are doing. Such men have no right nor reason whatsoever to demand of anyone that they renounce the Catholic faith, and may God have mercy on their souls. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I think these “priests” are making a “mortal” mistake. It is time for someone, man or woman, to inform the clergymen of the Catholic Church that they do not decide everything nor do they know everything.

When a Catholic clergyman is threatened with pregnancy and actually raises a child of his own, I’ll be happy to accept their stance on abortion. While I am pro-life, I’m not pro-life because the Roman Catholic Church told me to be, but because God did.
Pelosi causes scandal as a public figure who claims to be Catholic. Her public endorsement of abortion casts a shadow on the Church and creates confusion and dissent, which is dangerous in a spiritual sense. In asking her to renounce, they are attempting to limit the damage she causes as a public figure who claims to be Catholic and then proceeds to step on the Church’s toes. Furthermore, it is simply tossing out ad homs to invalidate a priests’s stance simply because he is a man. What happened to that everybody is entitled to their opinion statement. Does it not apply here? Lastly, the fact that you separate what the Church says and what God says is troubling. It gives the implication that the Church is not the voice of God, and if it is not, then it is nothing.

I really am neither socialist or capitalist… I’m mostly a liberal with a few conservative viewpoints.

And I also must point out that same-sex marriage is not “evil,” as it is impossible as it is not a living thing, nor an object, but a concept. I only support the “right” to marry anyone you wish, not the actual homosexual acts, which is what the Catholic Church is against.
Please learn your faith. The Catholic Church (both the Vatican and the US Bishops) vigorously oppose “marrying anyone you wish” (aka, same-sex faux “marriage”), and have produced documents stating the same. It’s not just the “acts” which they oppose as morally reprehensible. All of Catholic moral doctrine regarding marriage, the family, sexuality, and reproduction is of one piece, and is directed toward all of society, of course, not just practicing Catholics.

I understand your point, but as I said, I will stand by my opinions. I also do not think supporting same-sex marriage will send me to hell. Purgatory, maybe. And yes, I do know my faith very well, thank you.

Technically one cannot be “pro-life” and pro-genocide, so I don’t think he’d get very far in the primaries. 😃 But you don’t even need to go to these extremes. I didn’t vote for either Romney or Obama because I felt both of them supported intrinsic evils and that neither one was any “better” than the other. I voted third party, because it was the only way I could vote without violating my conscience.

Socialism and unbridled capitalism are not the only two forms of government, and as a Catholic, I support neither.

I mean no disrespect, but I do not see how the distribution of wealth is evil. And I also must point out that same-sex marriage is not “evil,” as it is impossible as it is not a living thing, nor an object, but a concept. Amen. I find it ridiculous how many Catholics don’t realize that these people (Pelosi, et al) actually excommunicate themselves. No one can remove you from full communion with Holy Mother Church but yourself. I do NOT understand the appalling number of Catholics, on this forum, who are quick to criticize or condemn priests and/or bishops who state the obvious to these public renouncers of our faith.

Supporting any grave evil is a cause for scandal, and if and when we do know what our Church requires us to advocate for and against, yet we advocate the opposite, we are taught by the Church that Our Lord will judge us accordingly, in contradistinction to those ignorant of the Faith. Scandal is a itself very grave.

Point 2:
Given your syntax in your earlier post, you could not “know your faith very well, thank you” if you believe that the Church only opposes homosexual acts and does not as vigorously oppose legal unions. (You were the one who stated some contrast, a contrast which does not exist.) Your Church is very consistent. Given that she sees homosexual behavior as the grave evil it is, she is opposed to the affirmation of that via a faux “marriage.”

Alrighty, then.

First time I’ve ever come across someone actively seeking time in purgatory as “no big deal”. Good luck to you, sir or madam.

As a Catholic it is deeply troubling to me that people in politics such as Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden espouse such anti Catholic rhetoric. I cannot understand why they are not excommunicated by the Catholic Church forthwith.

I do not see how opposing same-sex marriage is not discrimination, which is evil in itself. Please do not judge my knowledge of my Catholic faith when you have no reason to do so.

If that is true, then Rick Santorum and Bobby Jindal should be excommunicated, as they support the death penalty and many other things that the RCC is strictly against. Do not just go after the “liberals.”

Lets look at this the other way around.

Okay, sure.
I do not see how opposing same-sex marriage is not discrimination, which is evil in itself.
Now I have reason to do so.

There are so many things that I could say to you, especially from reading through your other posts on this thread that I don’t know where to begin.

Lets start with, how many teachings of the Catholic Church do you disagree with? and why do you advocate the contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church?

God Bless

Thank you for reading

You really don’t grasp the difference between something which might be evil, depending upon the circumstances, and that which is intrinsically evil? (Intrinsically evil being NEVER okay, never ever, under any circumstances, whatsoever, period.) Fortunately for you (and all of us), the Catholic Church is very clear in defining what is intrinsically evil…and same sex marriage is thus defined. The catechism of the Catholic Church is your friend.

I disagree with none of the RCC’s teachings, I just disagree on how harsh they are to the democratic belief system.

I have discovered that many, many Catholics are so confused about what is sinful anymore. These Catholics say abortion is not a sin and that Homosexual activities are not sinful. I think that a major reason for this confusion is that the Catholic priests, at least in my parish, do not talk about specific sin anymore. The priest just talk in broad generalities about what is sinful thus leaving many Catholics with no specifics about what is sin. This is going to destroy the Catholic Church. I have come to understand that priests do not preach about what is sinful much anymore because they do not want to lose their churches tax exempt status. This is not the right road to go down. Priests must preach specifically what is sinful or our Catholic faith will disappear. I am fearful of what our Catholic Church and our Nation is becoming. Too many Catholics are embracing the radical Liberal teachings which will bring us all down to Hell because our priests are not doing their jobs very well concerning salvation of souls because of fear of losing money. That is a sad situation and in my opinion something must be done to remedy the situation before it is too late.

That would be why I read it day and night. I, in fact, do know my faith.
