Pro-abortion ‘Catholic’ theologian calls Archbishop Dolan ‘rabid’

MILWAUKEE, June 6, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a blog posted on the liberal online magazine Religion Dispatches, prominent Catholic dissident Daniel C. Maguire, a professor of moral theology at Milwaukee’s Catholic Marquette University, took exception to New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan’s letter to Representative Paul Ryan, where the archbishop praised Ryan’s “attention to the guidance of Catholic social justice in the current delicate budget considerations in Congress.”

Maguire compares the letter to Rep. Ryan with a letter he received from Archbishop Dolan correcting him on his dissident stance on the issues of abortion, homosexual “marriage” and contraception, in which he said the archbishop was “rabid.”

“In 2006, I also received a letter form Archbishop Dolan (then Archbishop of Milwaukee where my Marquette University is located),” Maguire wrote.

“My oh my, how different was the letter Dolan sent me from his mellifluous effusion to Ryan, criticizing my support for pregnant women making their own decisions about problem pregnancies and my defense of marriage for those whom God has made gay. He was rabid!

The archbishop, said Maguire, said that Maguire’s views were “‘preposterous and disingenuous,’ ‘totally at odds with clear Church teaching, Sacred Scripture, the Magisterium, and Natural Law,’ and ‘contrary to the faith and morals of the Catholic Church.’

Good on Archbishop Dolan for having the backbone to say what had to be said.
The sooner Maguire gets sacked, the better. But that wont happen, will it?!!! So, hell go on poisoning the minds and hearts and souls of his naive students.

There`s a need for millstone manufacturers…
 
Of course Maguire is not right.But where does he come up with the idea that God made some people homosexuals?I don’t recall God ever saying such things.

Maguire has been frothing at the mouth, so to speak, for many years. Too bad every word the bishopo said is true.
 
It’s good to hear that the bishop actually sent those letters. Much has been rotten at Marquette for a long time.

This idea is pretty frightening all by itself besides Maguire’s other beliefs and positions. It espouses the idea that God creates and causes temptation twoards grave sin. This is so problematic and frightening I’m not sure how to even describe it. He needs our prayers big time.

I don’t know this guy directly, but surely you realize that there is a whole group of rebellious catholics laboring under the assumption that homosexual activity itself isn’t sinful, but rather a good and virtuous thing. (!) I’m guessing he’s one of them.

Apparently he sees no intellectual conflict between this principle and his catholic identity. This is what passes for a theologian these days! I used to roll my eyes in college when philosophy types had to develop long proofs for demonstrating that 1 + 1 = 2. Apparently some of them actually get lost along the way…

oh yes I know…with all the scriptural and early Church father condemnations of homosexuality, these people have figured out several different ways to say that 1+1=3.
 
So the Archbishop is rabid. When a rabid animal bites you, you may get the same infection. Maybe the Archbishop, for the sake of this man’s soul, should go and bite him.
Maybe he will then be infected with the truth and true love.
