I’m finding it very difficult to pray for such scum. That truly is disgusting.

Those men and women are much better catholics than I am. Without question, if it was me, someone was getting hit.

Hmmm. This thread appears in two places on the Forums …

And I agree. As I said when I posted about this earlier, the guy with the sex toy assaulting the woman would, on a really good day, get perhaps one warning to back off before I broke his hand. And the guy who touched my genitals would be picking his teeth up off the ground.

I do not participate in demonstrations for precisely this reason. I do not have enough self-control to keep my temper in check when provoked and, if you physically touch me? That’s aggression and you’re going down. I’m neither happy nor proud of the fact, but I know my limitations and so I avoid putting myself in situations where I will be tested. Let’s just say I am not a dispassionate person.

Nor do I think it is necessarily a moral obligation to be dispassionate in these cases. There are rules of engagement to be observed in public demonstrations, and physical contact between the two sides is a clear violation of them. Observe the norms of civility or pay the consequences, that’s my opinion.

The guy assaulting the woman with the sex toy needed to be knocked on his *** . If that woman chose not to respond, God bless her for her Christ-like response, but any man watching that take place should have moved in and set him straight.

Unfortunately, I am the same way 😦

Prayers and petitions,

That’s gross not to mention quite childish. If these people truly thought they were right, why would they result to such childish beahviour to get their point across? I’m also thinking that self defense would be justified in this case. Not beating them up perse but maybe twist their arm in such away to keep them from moving toward you. In Shorinji kenpo, one “fight’s to runaway”
It’s a non deadly martial art developed from buddhist principles. Of course it requires more restraint. Myself being a very non touchy feely person, my instinct would be to incapacitate them and run.

Much better people than me…maybe that’s why God put them there.

Evil. Satan is loving this.

Oh shades of Therese Neuman,. Maximillian Kolbe & Edith Stien these pro-lifers are bound for Sainthood!!! They radiated Jesus Christ!! Oh Blessed people!!!:highprayer:

I can’t do that sort of thing for the very reason that if somone touching me would provoke a violent response.

Wouldn’t defending yourslef be justified in this case? I don’t mean driving the guy into the pavement I just mean shoving the guy away when he starts touching you.

I think it would but since pro life are the minority, fighting back could be taken out of context . Many times like in recent events, a gay man accused soone of assault when he was completely innocent. It helps your case to demonise someone on the opposite side of your political agenda.

Amen. I don’t know if I could contain myself either. But, they’re doing the right thing, not giving them any attention or stooping to their level, letting God judge them for their actions. It’s easy to say, but not easy to do. I guess this is how Satan taunts and I get the clear impression that, through this behaviour, these people truly are puppets of Satan.

I dont mean to offend, but something about that video just doesnt feel right.

Im not justifying or aproving of acosting/harrassing/abusing people in any way and regardless of their beliefs, if the footage is accurate then those people should at the very least be ashamed of themselves and charged with assault. But something about the footage and the people just doesnt seem right.

God bless those folks. Remember, when men revile and persecute you, you are blessed. It’s a powerful witness to stand as a victim (as Christ did) against those who work evil.

Hitting these goofballs, while totally understandable, would be fighting back in the wrong way, IMO. We’re dealing with a problem that can’t be stopped by beating the stuffing out of people (even though they deserve it!).

If the early Christians had chose to “fight back” against the Romans who persecuted them instead of welcoming martyrdom, what would have happened?

These folks made the right choice and they’ll have their reward! 👍

Perhaps the pro-lifers could “arm” themselves with a videographer and catch more of this activity, so if they have to defend their subsequent actions, they can.

Truly reprehensible behavior on the part of the assaulters. If they disagree, there are other more appropriate ways to do so.

I can’t imagine how many pro-life demonstrations I’ve taken part in – certainly over 100 — and never once has anybody physically hassled me. I’ve received some insults and name-calling but that’s the worst of it. Possibly because I’m 6’5"? Anyway, I think the best response to such bullying would be to increase our picketing time.

BTW, our local pro-life group videotapes every demonstration, not just to document bad actions by the other side but also to stand ready to refute any claims that we did anything wrong.
