There are multiple reliable sources reporting on the issue of the destruction of the JPII Institute in Rome. Trying to focus the attention on the messanger, ie one source which you consider unacceptable seems like an attempt at derailing the discussion.
Once again. This discussion concerns the very serious matter of what is being done with the JPII institute. Let’s remain on topic. Thank you.

That may be true, but inviting a Catholic priest who believes as a Protestant or an atheist is not prudent for any Pontifical Academy or Institute.

It’s a common tactic. A variation on the ad hominem.
Back to topic:
What’s at stake, as I see it, is the potential uprooting of perhaps the greatest theological thinking ever on the holiness of the human body as temple of the human soul.

And they’ve been at it since before Francis. In 2012, they shut down a conference addressing ethical means of treating infertility because they didn’t want the IVF expert to speak. They just don’t get how the Academies specifically invite all ideas (including devils advocates) for the purpose of finding deeper meaning and truth for the sake of suffering people.

Pope Francis basically had to re order the PAL as its members all were publicly against Amoris Laetitia.

Cardinal Carlo Caffarra. He co-authored the Five Cardinals Book and signed the dubia sent to Pope Francis;

Cardinal Willem Eijk. He signed the 13 Cardinals Letter and co-authored the Eleven Cardinals Book;

Cardinal Elio Sgreccia. He wrote a preface to a book written by Cardinal Ennio Antonelli defending the traditional Catholic teaching on marriage;

Professor Josef Seifert. He wrote a detailed critique of Amoris Laetitia and asked for its clarification;

Professor Robert Spaemann. He gave several interviews strongly opposing parts of Amoris Laetitia and supporting the Four Cardinals’ dubia.

Professor Wolfgang Waldstein. He signed the Declaration of Fidelity with regard to the Catholic teaching on marriage.

None of which had any interest in embracing and studying the Popes document.

I received the Waldstein translation of “Theology of the Body” last week and am working through it. I believe it is Pope Saint John Paul II’s great legacy, perhaps among the great works of Catholic theology. I can’t imagine anything replacing it, let alone improving upon it.

Cardinal Caffarra explained that Saint John Paul II had commissioned him to plan and establish the Pontifical Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family. At the beginning of this work, the cardinal wrote a letter to Sister Lucia of Fatima through her bishop, since he could not do it directly.

“Inexplicably, since I did not expect a reply, seeing as I had only asked for her prayers, I received a long letter with her signature, which is now in the archives of the Institute,” the Italian cardinal said.
“In that letter we find written: ‘The final battle between the Lord and the kingdom of Satan will be about Marriage and the Family.’ Don’t be afraid, she added, because whoever works for the sanctity of Marriage and the Family will always be fought against and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue. Then she concluded: ‘nevertheless, Our Lady has already crushed his head’.”

Cardinal Caffarra added that “speaking again with John Paul II, you could feel that the family was the core, since it has to do with the supporting pillar of creation, the truth of the relationship between man and woman, between the generations. If the foundational pillar is damaged, the entire building collapses and we’re seeing this now, because we are right at this point and we know it.”

Indeed we are seeing that battle play out. Pope Saint John Paul II may be in Heaven, but he is with us. The enemies of sacramental marriage and the family will be defeated. Deus vult!

You are the one continually posting about the issue, not I. Thank you.

The Church cannot change its teachings about human sexuality without changing its teachings on Creation, the Fall, and even the Incarnation itself. Even a modest understanding of Theology of the Body makes this abundantly clear.

Good thing he replaced all those devious charlatans then! Now we have many great catholic clergy and thinkers promoting contraception and homosexuality. But don’t worry, they liked AL and don’t ask difficult questions about it. The PAL won’t start changing its approach at all!

I make no apology for defending the Magisterium and Amoris Laetitia as contributing to revelation and the growth of the Church’s mission on earth. It’s very important for young and new Catholics to understand that we are not free to simply reject Pope Francis because “we don’t like him” and he doesn’t teach like “we think he should”. The Church is a supernatural organism, guarded by the Holy Spirit when teaching on matters of faith and morals.

The final prophecy from Fatima is that the last great battle will be fought over marriage and the family. And here we are.

The mastermind of all these changes appears to be Abp. Paglia.

Yet another article on the JPII Institute. It will be interesting to see how this all turns out.

Very difficult now to find solid, orthodox Catholic moral theology studies online, particularly incorporating TOB. U of Dallas has a year long course, but currently it’s only offered in Spanish. Not enough demand for it in English, they told me. :cry:

A new interview was published with the institute’s VP on why these changes are very concerning and threaten the institute’s mission and purpose:

Also found this opinion piece from Fr. de Souza on Catholic Herald. It’s a week old now but I wanted to post it since he is a very well-renowned priest:

Recent structural changes at the pontifical institute for marriage and family studies do not indicate a confidence that the teaching of Amoris Laetitia is true and thus will be found theologically sound. Rather, it will be enforced by diktat, abrogating academic rights in order to ensure conformity to a new orthodoxy. But an orthodoxy that has to be enforced from above, that depends upon power rather than persuasion, will not endure. Bureaucratic manoeuvring can cost professors their jobs, but it cannot establish the truth.

First you ignored the topic and brushed this off as an attack on Pope Francis, even though you were the first person in this thread who even mentioned Pope Francis (yes, I checked).

Then you ignored the topic and tried to discredit the source. Yet even after other sources are posted…

Then you ignored the topic and criticized ontheway1 for making the thread.

If you are not actually interested in discussing the topic, then why are you posting in this thread at all?

After my (totally valid, and accurate) comments on the original source for the article (now made a week ago) my only posts have been to respond to attacks on me. If you don’t want me in this thread, why do you keep drawing me back?
