My goodness, that is terrible. While it doesn’t excuse the sorry state of our nation’s poorly catechised youth, it does help explain why so many have such a wishy-washy (if any) understanding of our faith! I count myself as part of that group at one time. I went to Saint Mary’s College of California for two years before transferring and remember when the National Organization for Women was on campus signing up new members. At the time I didn’t think anything of it, and only later did I learn more about that group.

Quoting from the Lecture Fund of Georgetown University events calendar:
Dr. Peter Singer: Wired for War: Everything You Wanted to Know about Robots and War, but were Afraid to Ask…Afraid to Ask…Afraid to Ask…
When Sat, April 14, 5pm – 7pm
Where Philodemic Room, Healy 208 (map)
Description A war fought entirely by robots – science fiction or not that far off? Dr. Peter W. Singer, the youngest scholar ever to be named a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and an eminent scholar on warfare, will answer this and other questions in his address this April as the keynote speaker for the inaugural Walsh Exchange research conference. The Walsh Exchange, the first undergraduate research conference devoted solely to students of international affairs, is looking forward to welcoming Dr. Singer to the Hilltop come April, as well as some of the top students in the field who will come to present their own original research. We’d love for you to join - students are invited to attend paper presentations as well as the keynote with Dr. Singer in what is sure to be a fascinating weekend on international affairs.

Lord have mercy.

It doesn’t matter what the topic of the lecture was. Would it have been OK to invite Hitler to give a workshop on watercolors?

Let him kill all the robots he wants but keep him away from human babies.

Morons, Complete idiots, seriously, this kind fo thing ticks me off, im sick and tired of leftist Catholics, WAKE UP!!!

Sad to say, it would be no different than what most of the professors would be espousing in their regular lectures …

The LifeNews article cited in the first post has confused the two Singers with each other.
Wait a minute. It seems to me that Lifesite didn’t make the confusion, but those to which they talked. From the article:

“It would seem that Dr. Singer, far from being invited to a Catholic campus should be escorted off one,” Archbold added. “But the Georgetown Lecture Fund invited Singer to speak this past weekend to speak on ethical issues of using robots in war, according to their website.”

Now, it appears from the article, that Lifesite was quoting Archbold. My searching of the link given shows nothing related to neither Singer, Peter W nor Peter A. D.

Indeed, it seems following the links that the Cardinal Newman Society make the initial claim (here).

However, it does appear from this link that it doe not seem to be the same Dr. Singer that advocates infanticide and euthanasia.
