Pro-life reaction to Obama conference call: Bill still funds abortion

Washington D.C., Aug 19, 2009 / 08:59 pm (CNA).- Reacting to President Barack Obama’s remarks on his health care reform conference call with faith leaders today, pro-life organizations called on the president to “walk the talk” and remove the provisions in the health care bill that make it possible to fund abortions with federal dollars.
During a Wednesday teleconference sponsored by the left-leaning religious organizations Catholics United, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Faith in Public Life, both White House Director of Domestic Policy Melody Barnes and President Obama denied that the health care bill would allow for federally funded abortions.
But according to Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, “public support for abortion is on decline, and the President knows that openly advancing an abortion mandate in health care reform is unpopular with the American people.”

I sure hope he is listening. We need to pray for all our legislatures who are trying to ram this “so-called health care reform” down our throats. There is no room for death issues, like abortion, euthanasia, fetal-stem cell research etc.

We do need reform but not in this arena…it’s not healthcare at all.

We have watched the progress the progressives have made in this country when they push abortion. We currently fund Planned parenthood and Obama has said that Planned parenthood will be a part of the solution.

The House Bill is vague enough in its wording about women’s healthcare, and everyone that has studied this has advised that it will include abortion. Sorry if I don’t believe the administration when it says it wants fewer abortions while they help fund it. They are the most pro-abortion administration we have ever had and we need to keep our eyes open and protest this new bill. You want proof-look at all the old news clips of Obama as he talks about healtcare and women’s health. Just listen to what he, himself has said.

I know it is hard to understand why Obama and his administration would be so pro-abortion but I do believe this is the case. :twocents::twocents:

The easeist way to resolve this is to put verbiage in the bill that forbids fudning of abortions. yet every amendment the republicans have offered to do this has been rejected by the democrat majority.

It is the kind of naive trust that has given us the most pro-abortion President in History. His “Catholic” supporters assured us he would reduce abortions yet he has already assured the deaths of 10s of thousands of children overseas-and that was before he had finished his first week in office. Given that why would anyone trust what he says about abortion?

Barring a specific amendment fordidding abortion funding no Catholic should support this bill.

LOL THis made be laugh so hard. Absolutely right, add language to the bill forbidding it. So easy and yet they will never do it. Why not? Because they really do want it in there.
