I got this link from another message board. I had heard about this video but I’d never seen it. I had tears in my eyes when it was over. Check it out. Even if you don’t like rap music, you will love the message…👍
 
Thank you for sharing this link! My son and I enjoyed it very much. I recognized the girl from Fresh Prince of Bel Air in it. Hope that means she is pro-life.
Almost as good as Fr. Stan Fortuna’s prolife rap. 🙂
 
That is gorgeous. I listened to it twice and cried both times. I’m going to buy that. I couldn’t get the video to work. I tried to use quicktime and it says it isn’t available on quicktime.

I’ve already seen it. 🙂 Although I don’t like rap music, I liked Nick Cannon’s “Can I Live.” 👍
 
I have recommended it to a couple of teenagers considering abortion, as part of counselling. Especially for those who aren’t interested in religious or moral reasoning.

It’s ok to be frightened, but you never know who that little baby will grow up to become.
 
Wow. That is a powerful video. I was doing fine till it showed him and his mom hugging. That is crazy man.

You can tell by his mom’s face that she thanks God every day she didn’t go through with it.

Everyone should watch this.

🙂 I’m glad you all liked it. I thought it was quite powerful. If only this kind of stuff could be seen more on MTV than the crud that’s usually on there.

That was amazing! I showed it to my 16 yo daughter, who is working on a pro life speech. I lterally had tears in my eyes. I copied the link to several emails to friends. Thanks!
 
I don’t normally like Hiphop unless the message is good. This definitely is worth it. It was beautiful. :crying:
 
As a youth minister, I was initially overjoyed to have such a great resource, but upon looking into the CD, I had to make sure that I wasn’t promoting something that wasn’t what it really was. He also raps in the same Cd about pimps, casual sex and other racy things. Earlier this year another youth minister shared the same sentiment and wrote about it.

I just don’t want my teens to go out and purchase a “Pro-Life” song, and think the rest of the album is okay. Below is a link to her article from “Rock for Life” website. (a pro-life organization)

I wonder if his “I’m not Pro-life, I’m Pro-Nick” is just a little back pedalling on his part after ruffling the pro-choice feathers. It’s not cool to align yourself with the churchy folks.

I personally find there is a certain credibility in his “Can I Live” message given that he is an imperfect role model, living in and enjoying the attractions of the world. He is not taking a stand on all matters of faith, he is testifying to his joy that his mother chose not to abort him - she chose life.

As a 44 year old, not terribly cool (and getting more uncool by the day;) ) Catholic mother, I have some influence over my Catholic children, and their Catholic friends. But send this white housewifey church lady into the midst of Nick Cannon’s fans, I doubt I would have any credibility. That the message comes from Nick, at a level they can relate to, imo, this song and video can make a difference, for these young people to care about preserving life, to see that a pregnancy is not just a condition or a complication to your life, but that it is a life at stake.

In the work I have done with youth ministry, I would see no problem with showing the video. I would not say “and this is Nick Cannon, go buy his cd”. Showing the video, imo, is not the same as condoning all his music, or his lifestyle. The discussion of the video would be worth it, imo.
