"Pro-Lifers are Hypocrites"

I’ve been doing some helpful reading on all of the judgments because passed on pro-lifers.

Pro-choicers are trying to put pro-lifers on the defensive. Don’t fall for it. Keep them on topic. They’re the ones who need to defend the ethics of abortion.

Anyone who says this obviously hasn’t taken the time or effort to educate themselves on what pro lifers really believe.

I’d say the number of pro lifers who “only care about children before they’re born” is quite close to zero.

This is a long-standing urban legend about prolifers.

I used to believe it, too . Although I always believed abortion was wrong and unjustifiable, this idea that prolifers only care about fetuses used to bother me, and I’d think, “why aren’t prolifers doing more for mmoms and babies.

Then I actually joined our local pro life group and they sent me this thick folder with associated groups and fully half the groups were post-natal assistance!

The pro choice side really does have an impressive propaganda machine—you gotta give ‘em that…

“If you’re so pro-life, why don’t you adopt all of the kids currently in the foster care system?”
Kind of like

“If you’re so pro-illegal immigrant, why don’t you adopt all of the ‘kids in cages’?”

“If you’re so pro-illegal immigrant, why don’t you adopt all of the ‘kids in cages’?”
Maybe because most of them already have families, from whom they’ve been separated.

We now return to the actual topic . . .

Yup. If they want to use the double standard fallacy it’s perfectly appropriate to point it out. 🙂

Yup! It’s obvious Pro lifers care about women FAR more than the abortion industry does or ever will.

I pray for all in this issue that everyone gains understanding and blessings from God. 🙏

Yea, but the point is that I’ve mistakenly gotten sucked into defending myself, (as recently as yesterday on CAF). “Oh, but we DO care! Here’s the evidence.”

People with firmly entrenched prejudices don’t care about evidence. Instead, I like Apodaca’s approach: “Do you have a defense for the actual act of abortion, not just a personal attack on me?”

“Pro-lifers only care about children before they’re born.”

The good old classic “no true Scotsman” fallacy.

Pretty hard to care for them either way until they’re born.
They’re super-easy to care for before they’re born! 😛 They’re super-portable, they’re on an automatic feeder, you don’t have any diapers, their wake/sleep schedule doesn’t affect you too much…

But because they’re so super-easy to care for, they’re easy to ignore as human beings. They get reduced to a concept, somewhere around the level of “my pancreas”… and unless you’re having trouble with your pancreas, you don’t pay any attention to it. And if your pancreas suddenly starts giving you trouble, and you decide to have it removed… well, insulin’s annoying and all that, but it’s your pancreas, goshdarnit.

That’s a textbook Fallacy of Double Standard, as there are no corresponding expectations or bar on their side to meet like they are expecting of you.

The pro choice side is full of fallacious arguments like this, nothing wrong with pointing them out. 🙂

That’s because they have no moral compass. Their morals shift with whatever is politically expedient to get their way. If you look at arguments from the left about most issues, logical fallacies are their primary and most used tool of debate. Someone mentioned adopting illegal immigrants or taking them into their home. Another example is when all of the rich anti wall people have walls and gates around their homes to keep people out. The hypocrisy has no bounds. You can’t separate children from their family but if you kill them before they come out you are good to go!

The pro life community is the one doing the hard work of adoption and social justice.
The accusation of non-compassion is a tired canard.

Nothing more persuasive than an infanticide-advocate preaching against hypocrisy

Like a serial rapist preaching against bad dinner etiquette

My oldest six are adopted. I skipped the easy part with them. I completely agree that my two youngest kids (biological) were MUCH easier pre birth! Somedays I wish I could put them back…

The “why don’t you adopt” things really bothers me. Most people are not suited to adopt. It doesn’t matter how badly somebody WANTS to adopt if they are not called to it, things won’t go well.
