Problem with drinking too much beer

Thanks for these last 4 post. I am reading and considering them closely.
Wow Newbie, that was specific! I was being sincere in that question. I am a little slow, so I actually had to count up four, and then notice you said “all you” and “in everything,” for everyone else prior to that, which leads me to believe I am being a tad singled out, ok, whatever, I take no offense.

Let’s get down to the problem! I am not a beer drinker. In fact, I hate beer, but you did not address beer-drinking people only, so trying to give you a palpable solution/substitution was truly my honest intent there.

Most people here are saying you have an addiction, do you agree with this? You say it is not out of control. I know you have a blank profile to assume some anonymity, but I need more info. How old are you? How long has it been like this? Is it just irritation, boredom, and aggravation? Are you also, depressed, lonely, unguided, misdirected, getting over a break up, feeling inept, too? Are you a man/woman? Have you fallen away from our faith?

Everyone is reading your statement, “I don’t get out of control. I don’t think I’m dealing with full-blown addiction,” as a huge denial line, because you know the symptoms, you addressed it, but retract by using the word don’t.

Lastly, I’m sorry you didn’t care for my response, I am better known for these long winded ones instead… however coming back to God and taking so much time out of your whole life to learn about him and his truths, his laws, his better ways…, remember there is a better way especially when you already have the best, … a church history with documents for scores of years, decades, centuries, and millennia’s! If it’s all been done before, and you know your faith well, how do you think your God in heaven would resolve your matter? He is with you and guiding you as we speak and we will all be here praying for you and your recovery in this. Peace and God’s blessings brother/sister!

When I made the post stating I enjoyed the last 4 posts, it was before I realized there was another page yet to read.

Well I asked a lot of questions, but in a nutshell, how have you been doing since you posted about this issue?

:banghead: Well I feel like a heel.

Actually, I’m glad you asked. I’ve been practicing temperance in EVERY meal and drink (juices, water, etc.). In other words, I’ve placed the virtue of temperance above any dietary pleasure. Glutton (as someone mentioned) is gluttony. I haven’t had even one beer.

For example, instead of 2 sandwiches, a bag of chips, and a large diet cola… I’ve been having 1/2 a sandwich (i.e. on one piece of bread), perhaps a small serving of fruit, and an 8 oz serving of either juice/water. I’m on day #3, and feel good. I think I may have even lost a few lbs.

I’m 1/2 way thru an episode of gout in my knee and ankle - which is EXTREMELY painful, so the diet changes, in all areas, are going to help.

I’m going to be getting involved in several Bible studies. These are with non-denomination churches (I wish Catholics had more of these), but I have to be around other Christian men. I think this is the core of the issue. I feel isolated at times.

So, it’s better. 🙂

Any encouragement from anyone will be appreciated!! ha.
