I am in Mortal Sin, and am usually in it 99.99% of the time, but only because we never go to confession. We don’t have a local church that has confessions, because our local church is crazy and ran by heretics that believe women should be Priests, and who lock the church doors because they “don’t want it to get dirty”. And, in turn to their many heresies, they don’t believe confession is necessary. Therefore, the church twenty five miles away that’s not crazy is our only hope, but we still never go to confession because we’re always busy. Basically, is there anything in Canon Law that says you should go every four weeks?

As an insight into my daily hell on earth, I’m always unable to go to communion, but my parents don’t know that I’m in Mortal Sin, so it’s hard to keep making up excuses. Just today I ate a brownie before we left so I would have a good excuse, but my mother didn’t care and made me do it anyway because I never go, even though receiving communion in Mortal Sin is another Mortal Sin in and of itself. It’s a circle of sin and I’m sick and tired of it. I just want to be able to receive communion and be more comfortable with my eventual judgment. It could happen tomorrow, and I’d be sent to Hell, just because I never get to go to confession. I’ve been bringing it up a lot, and we were supposed to go today, but we couldn’t because we got too busy and only made it to church. So please, if you would, could you give me a good argument on why we should go every four weeks? Or is there perhaps something in Canon Law? Maybe something a Saint said? I’m open to anything. My soul is at stake here, and the only excuse I have to give God is “I’m too busy”.

Although I realize that this might be uncomfortable for you, I think you need to tell your mother that you are in the state of mortal sin and that therefore 1) You cannot receive Holy Communion and 2) You need to go to confession.

If she gets nosy about what kind of mortal sin, tell her you’d rather save that for the priest.

Sorry about your situation-hope you can get to confession soon-and find an orthodox parish-you are in a sad situation, for sure. Hey-go ahead and tell your parents that you believe you are in a state of mortal sin and that you need to make it to confessional ASAP. I think they will understand and not push you to partake of holy communion. If they knew, or once you 'fess up that you are in that state-you may find your parents more supportive than you anticipated. The sooner you are absolved, the better-and perhaps drop a line with the diocese bishop about your parish not hearing confessions-that is very wrong and needs to be addressed at a higher level. Best of luck! :signofcross::harp::hug3:

Canon law requires confession one time a year (although it’s better to go more frequently). Here’s the excerpt from Canon law:

Can. 989 All the faithful who have reached the age of discretion are bound faithfully to confess their grave sins at least once a year.

Have you contacted your diocese about this parish, assuming it is a Catholic parish? If they are in rebellion from the church I’d think the bishop would want to know about it. How can a parish not offer confession? I’m confused. Perhaps contacting your diocese would help-- tell them of your dilemma, and they might just open your eyes to a solution you weren’t aware of.

Also, if you are attending the church 25 miles away, can you call that parish and try and make an appointment with the priest to hear your confession prior to the mass you will be attending? That way you can receive the Holy Eucharist in the immediate service before you fall into mortal sin. Again, there may be opportunities available to you that you haven’t considered, that don’t involve confession to your mother. Call up, talk to the priest, lay your cards on the table and see what happens.

From my personal experience with battling addition to a particular mortal sin… my weapons were Confession, the Eucharist, and prayer-- asking repeatedly for help battling against this particular sin. Over and over. Daily. And you know what? I have been free of that sin for months. He answered my prayer. My will was aligned with His will, and He came through for me! It will happen if you have faith and persistence. Take it to the bank.

Read Luke, Chapter 11 about Jesus’ teaching on prayer, and the parable He used as an example of persistence in prayer.

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10.

God bless you in your spiritual warfare for your soul. May the Lord Almighty work wonders in your life and bring you back into relationship with Him!

Well, that would work, except it’s a sexual sin, and for some reason every time something like this comes up the first thing she thinks of is masturbation. Don’t even ask me why because I don’t know. She just always assumes it’s either that or pornography. And sometimes both.

I would like to go to confession every week, quite honestly, but we can’t. We’re always busy and always running behind. I’m pretty sure the last time I went to confession was when Tim Staples came to our diocese, which was two or three months ago. I’m just sick of it. People don’t take confession as seriously as they should. Mostly because they don’t understand the beautiful thing in which they’ve been given. Confession is the best way to battle sin. And honestly, I think the reason sex has gone the way it has is because confession isn’t being taken seriously anymore. If it was we wouldn’t have the problems we have today.

Well, the short version is, our previous Bishop, kind as he may have been, wasn’t orthodox, and honestly, he didn’t do one thing while he was bishop. He let everything drop. Confession wasn’t necessary, Priests didn’t need to wear their clerics, you may receive communion if you believe your heart is pure, just tons of un-orthodox teachings. His only thing that he ever pushed was “Let all of the Mexicans on planet earth come to America!”. He honestly believed that we, as the white race, had a duty to take care of the Mexicans because apparently we hurt their feelings when we almost beat them at the Alamo or something. It’s not our fault that they suck at fighting, is it?

And anyway, he left way early because he didn’t want to be a Bishop anymore, giving each and every one of us a new hope. It was a true Star Wars experience. Anyhow, we were given a gift from heaven: Bishop John Brungardt. He’s deeply religious, orthodox to the very extreme, in fact, I almost cried tears of joy when he told a Priest friend of ours (Who is a good Priest) that one of the biggest problems in our diocese was almost none of the Priests wore clerics! He’s pushing confession to extreme heights because it’s been completely dropped and looked at like a dried up dead fish for a long time, and he’s pushing Priestly vocations very hard because we have a Priest problem. The main problem is that all of the Priests are old and when they’re young they don’t have any enthusiasm for it, causing people to think that it’s an un-enjoyable life. Basically, the Bishop has a lot of work on his hands.

And anyway, many churches have been left to do anything they want for a long time. The Priest that comes here is the biggest quack I have ever seen. He’s highly heretical. The first Mass I ever saw him do he said that Jesus died on the cross to stop the blood lust of man. He walks off the altar during his homily and he screams and he shouts. It’s like watching Sam Kinison. He’s just like a Baptist Televangelist. But that’s not the worst part. The lady that’s in charge of the church, Ellen, is so wacked up you’d think she was doing drugs. She’s an ex-Dominican nun, which, I know, sounds like she would be good, but the Dominican Convent in Great Bend, Kansas, is the biggest circus that has ever claimed to be a convent. Only about three of the probably hundred and twenty nuns or so wear habits, they cross their legs when they meditate like Buddhists, they’re feminists, they believe women should be allowed to be Priests, when they cross themselves they say “In the name of the father, and of the mother, and of the son and of the holy spirit”, they believe confession is unnecessary and shouldn’t exist, there’s many more things. In short, they’re something Tim Staples should look into saving. But just think: We have one of those in charge of our parish. Think of the possibilities…

What’s scary for you is, like stated earlier, that’s the short story! 😛

You raise several POINTS:
  1. Immediately make a PERFECT ACT of Contrition and RESOLVE with God’s assistance Not to sin this way again.
  2. Talk to your parents about your being very uncomfortable with this chuch and ask them if as a family you might attend ??? instead. [HOW DO THEY FEEL ABOUT THE ABUSES? HAS ANYONE CONTACTED THE LOCAL BISHOP?]
  3. No canon law has no such command:
  4. The position of the CC is when in Mortal sin; CONFESS ASAP as a URGENT priority. We are Obligated to make “Our easter Duty” of Confession [if in mortal sin] and Holy Communion at least ONCE per year in the Easter Period [which we are currently are in].
  5. Every CC I have been asociated with offers Confessions beore Sunda y and Saturday Mass.
  6. In that you desire Confession BUT can’t access it; God will factor this in your favor. GO the first chance you have.
  7. Pray for help with what ever is causing you to sin. God’s on your side; but expects your cooperation.
God Bless you,

Pat

Hey-what PJM and others said is true-but please try to get to confession as soon as you can-no one is promised tomorrow. I used to have sexual sins, too yet overcame it eventually and credit that to confessionals. Now if only I can have the same results with road rage (idiotic drivers) and anger/lack of patience/using our precious Lord’s name in vain/F-bombs-I would be a saint. Still struggle with sins yet one is out of the way-please don’t put it off-try to go this weekend coming up-it is very urgent-and try to report to the diocese bishop about your local parish not having confessionals available-praying that this issue will be resolved soon for you-hang in there! :hug3::signofcross::harp:

I explained the situation with my parish earlier, so I’ll just copy and paste it onto this message:
