I don’t know anything about Fr. Kenneally. I do know Cardinal George and have the utmost respect for the man. He is an exceptional man and inherited a difficult situation in Chicago. Sadly, he will not live to see the fruits of his labors, it might take another one or two good Orthodox Archbishops to truly repair the damage in the Archdiocese.

Inherited a difficult situation? Interesting take on things.

Cardinal George won’t be going anywhere as the result of a homily. I will say that when I watch his press conferences and the like of late that he looks more tired and worn than any time I’ve ever seen him.

Generally, he sort of has this gentle defiance about himself and the way he defends church teachings. It’s very pastoral and very cognitive, which I like about him even when I disagree about a few things here and there.

Cardinal George has done some great things for Chicago.

What troubles me is the current inclination to condemn all Priests and their Bishops as being guilty before they even have any say in the matter. We don’t even know if the Priest is actually guilty.

The difficulty lies in their being two standards of proof…the church’s is sort of “is this more likely than not”, and the civil world is “beyond a resonable doubt”

In some ways I think it shows the reach of the church in the world that any breach of trust by her ministers merits so much attention.

Father Keneally has had his wrist slapped a few times because he allows females to do homilies. I read this in a magazine several months ago. He is so cocky, he just laughs and says that the Cardinal cannot do anything about it because he is an old man. Maybe i will be able to find the articl on the internet. I think it was Chicago magazine and the front cover highlighted the Catholics of Chicago.

Scroll down to the picture of the fireman , click , and then scroll down to STEEPLE CHASE and scroll until yoe reach St. Gertrude. Sorry if there is an easier way to direct you - I am not so sharp with the computer.

I don’t know a thing about Father Keneally outside of this thread.

I do know a little about Francis Cardinal George, and I think he’s the foremost Catholic prelate and leader in the US.

Highly intelligent, highly pastoral (for both priests and the laity), highly ethical, highly devoted to the faith in both discourse and action.

I really like Cardinal George, but he made a mistake and admits to it. We shouldn’t wait until a priest is proven guilty to get him away from the situation. In a lot of professions, individuals are removed pending an investigation.
