Promote LGBT to teens or be sacked?

My sincere prayers for you. What an awful position to be put in. Keep praying for guidance and seek counsel on what to do. May our Lady Seat of Wisdom and Our Lady of good Counsel be with you.

I will be praying for you, for strength and protection.

I would explain to your supervisors that promoting the LGBT lifestyle is not doing any favors for the children and may harm them, since at that age kids are exploring their identity, may be easily influenced by outside forces or peer pressure, and may find themselves pushed into behaviors they would not otherwise choose.

Many teens think for awhile they might be gay, but left to their own devices they usually change their minds and end up heterosexual.
The homosexual lifestyle is a hard one, with many health risks as well as emotional and psychological ones. Children should not be brainwashed into thinking it is normal, or even worse, to be celebrated.

Thank you : this is very true which is why I don’t want to be promoting it to kids. I think people need to be educated on the realities of sexual activity choices outside of Male-Female marriage and their real consequences. I’m going to try to help the Christian Institute with this in the YK since I can’t see the UK Catholic Church doing half as much as they do sadly.

If you would like to keep working at the school, then suggest that you can do a display instead on different occupations, further studies, local and worldwide history, working animals that help us human beings, how to build good and solid relationships, “The growing teenage body - physical, mental and psychological development”, “this is what it means to be an adult/child in law/working force/responsibilities etc” etc. These are more relevant to the children.

After reading this article, where the author looks at several different aspects, I find it impossible to come to a different conclusion than that children are treated as guinea pigs and “The big guy” is making money on somebody else´s miseries. I can see lots of lawsuits in the future and maybe that is what we need to stop this madness.

Thanks for this - in a sane world that would be a good idea. Sadly the school won’t understand. It’s celebrate LGBT or get out. That’s the reality today.

I’m going to try to campaign for change once I’m out.

If I say no I might be dismissed or driven out of my job. Or - I could resign before I need to act on this request.
Or you could approach your boss in a rational, non-threatening manner and ask what options there are that allow you to not compromise your religion and conscience while maintaining your job.

First, I would talk to my union if I have one about job protections. I would also call an organization like Thomas More society or another legal firm to ask for precedents and things to say when I talk to my boss. And, i would seek guidance from my pastor.
Would it be a sin to obey my boss in this case?
I think that depends on what you do with the assignment. Some things might be, others might not be. The principles of cooperation with evil apply here.

This chart, while very basic, is helpful:

Karolina this something to use…you could memorize this and repeat to your boss. It’s also correct that there are a lot of physical health problems associated with the LGBTQ lifestyle … even the american CDC admits as such. I wouldn’t go into mental health problems as that’s easier ground for them to reply. Physical health is terrible in gay men cf normal guys. So you’ve got really good strong reasons. Then if they threaten you do what someone said above, document events and names.

I think that’s key, right there.

Is the actual instruction to promote books “celebrating LGBT lifestyles”?

Even if it is, that covers a lot of ground. If I was asked to do something myself I’d find a way to do it in a positive way and in a way that would be in keeping with my Catholic faith.

I wouldn’t support something that said “LGBT activity is not a sin and Catholics who believe it are wrong,” but I might support something that said “LGBT individuals are people like you and I and deserve to be treated with respect.”

God love you for doing the right thing and not promoting this culture of death the school unfortunately wants you to promote. If I were you I would just take it as a sign to find greener pastures.

I think it’s clear that I have to not do it yes. Probably I will have to resign before I need to act on this instruction. Thank God I am able to do this financially and with family support. Even if they can’t legally compel me : my life would be very difficult given that most staff are LGBT campaigners there.
@Karolina

What a quandary! It calls for a run around the end zone—or another Hail Mary play.

Is it possible for you to enthusiastically name a committee chairman from among those “LGBT campaigners,” so that they can exhibit the depth of their knowledge and bask in any of the comments relating to their insight and finesse? (“Laying it on thick” is not a sin!) In so doing, you would be seen as someone willing to not just share the limelight, but willing to completely hand it over to others, so you would be noted as an exemplary team player. At the same time, you could divest yourself of the onorous chore, and avoid any kind of negative reflection upon you.

Maybe there’s medical testing for you or a family member that necessitates your taking leave for a few days? If such can be arranged, your superior could easily see that you’re currently snowed under right now (or whenever this display is expected) and a committe project is an ideal solution!

Don’t quit! PUNT! The world’s children desperately need role models like you, Karolina.

I can’t refuse to buy lgbt books for a secular school if they have been requested by staff and students.

That’s just not realistic as at the very least they can say I have to represent these views.

Most people agree that lgbt is a positive life choice that needs to be celebrated and presented as such to kids.

Even if I think it is harmful - I can’t say the Library will have no such books.

I can’t win this without having to leave.

That’s the reality I’m afraid - until society sees and accepts the truth about the sexual revolution in all its harmful aspects.

This is a secular school. It is saying that same sex practice and transgender choices are a good thing and should be accepted by all.

I am not sure what the laws are in the UK, but, in general I would only go into this sort of preaching at the management if you are okay to have this follow you in every job you apply for in the future. New employers will call for a reference.

You do not have to give a “reason” for resignation. If you feel compelled to resign, I would simply do that, resign. No need for a big swan song.

You realize that the Church does not teach it is somehow wrong to be a homosexual, right? There are homosexual people and we are commanded to work against unjust discrimination.

Showing teens that there are books that talk about this does not mean you are “celebrating” or “promoting”.

Perhaps speak to your Priest, look at Courage and EnCourage, read the Catechism passages on homosexuality.

I know all about the work of Courage which I think is great.

The problem with the UK is that Christians are being forced out of the workplace. It takes a lot of courage to stand up for your beliefs and Christ. He will look after you Karolina do not be afraid. Too many of us are. Don’t put your head on the block but be ready for them to attempt do it for you.
Like I said there is a line we can’t cross. Christian teachers have it tough over here if they want to stand up for their beliefs. The teachings unions are as pro Christian as Lucifer was.

As a fellow UK resident I can understand the OP completely here. In the UK it sadly really is, get with LGBT or be fired/have your business ruined. The sad thing is, a state school is one thing, but Catholics often do not even feel safe at institutions deemed to be Christian, that you would think would have your back.
