The reason those writings have authority is not of maan but of God so I would agree with that. That beings said what the Scriptures contains is Christianity’s belief that God revealed Himself i history and that that history was guided by God’s Spirit.Few of the Biblical books especially those of the OT came to us straight from the pen of an individual writer. Many of them were edited and reedited over the course of several centuries. A prophet like Isaiah as more likely to speak the word of God than to write it down; he left the task of writing to his disciples. They in turn may have produced only random notes of what Isaiah said.
With very few exceptions, the authors of the OT and NT books did not think of themselves as professional writers. None of the writers of the OT and NT ever thought that what they wrote or had been written by others of hat they said considered their’s to be God breathed or inspired. They never thought their writings were the final word and authority. The Catholic Church has never defined how Scripture is inspired or God breathed, just that it is.
The problem in reading Scripture from the sola scriptura point of view is that anyone can read it and claim the Holy Spirit guided them to the interpretation they have and that its the only correct one to have. So each individual can claiming to be guided by the Holy Spirit will naturally make the claim they are correct and others are wrong in their interpretations of Scripture even though they also claim to be guided by the Holy Spirit. God’s Word is indeed infallible and the Holy Spirit is infallible, so when the Pope proclaims something in Scripture to be correct as to what it means and says, the Pope is guided by the same Holy Spirit that guided the Apostles who in turn taught correctly what Christ taught. That teaching and understanding is the same that it taught continuously since the time of the Apostles by the Catholic Church never changing any doctrines or dogma. If it was true what Christ taught and what the Apostles taught and still being taught by the Catholic Church it can’t later become false or now no longer a truth. A truth is always the truth as truth can never change if it could it was never the truth. Like Peter said read 2 Peter 3:14-18 and also read 2 Peter 1-2, There are false teachers past and present who lead astray by distorting God’s Word to their own idea’s and ends. Sadly there were false teachers during the time of Christ, during the time of the Apostles and ever since then up our present time. They all make the claim to be guided by the Holy Spirit but in the end with so many denominations each claiming to be Bible only as their authority has fractured into so many different churches each with their interpretations and understandings that have claimed to have been guided by the Holy Spirit each teaching something different that it can not be of the Holy Spirit that guides them but man himself.
