Some 25 years ago, I asked the voice "can you say ‘Jesus is Lord’? “I am Jesus” was the reply and I followed that voice for some six months until horrified Charismatic elders told me to apply the test of John (1Jn 4). I asked this voice, “do you acknowledge that Jesus the Christ has come in the flesh, born of the virgin Mary, died on the cross?” That voice never troubled me again!Prophecy must be discerned. If it is not in line with Scripture and the Magisterium (Church teaching), then it is not of God. Satan can mimic God’s voice, and he will do so when we become close to God.
Only in the Spirit can we say, “Jesus is Lord.”
As regards ‘Magesterium’. When I made my first Communion 66 years ago I was warned NEVER to chew the host and told the story of the boy who did and blood poured from his mouth. Trying to swallow a whole host down a seven-year-old gullet was a painful experience. But now of course, Church teaching has changed its mind.
As also with ‘no meat on a friday’. As also with cremation. As also with Galileo and several other dictats.
On TV a few years ago a Vatican authority said “we had 800 years of bad popes”. What happened to teaching under their guidance? I asked Jesus about that, too and was given Matthew 16:18: “You are Petros and upon this petra I will build my ecclesion and the gates of adou (Hades) will not overcome it.”
Amen. Good enough for me.
