Science tells us nothing about God. It can’t study God.

Peace,
Ed
It can tell us about the world that He created, and therefore give us a better understanding of Him. This is one of the reasons that I believe God gave us intelligence, so that we could better understand Him.

You have brought this up many times. No one is saying anything in the hopes of getting something banned. We are making points that are necessary for the discussion at hand. I believe the lack of moderator action to this point indicates that they understand that and no one has crossed the line. The number of times you repeat this seems to be an attempt to stop people from discussing things that you do not want to discuss.
Pretty much this. This is the 273rd post. That’s the 12th page how I have it set, and the 19th page with the normal 15 posts per page. I think a mod would have shut this thread down by now if we had crossed a line.

Nope. It cannot be verified. We can’t haul generations of humans into the laboratory. The mechanical process is like building a car by throwing random parts into a pile and hoping self-assembly occurs. Undirected means undirected.

Peace,
Ed
The quote by Pope Benedict shows a lack of understanding of evolution as does throwing ‘random parts into a pile’ argument.

People, some topics are forbidden. It isn’t very charitable to endanger a thread because you are too stubborn to obey the rules. I hope the Moderator will not close the thread but zero in on the violators.

What topics are banned? and Why?

As I describe it, the Bible is not a history book. It’s meant to teach us moral truths not scientific truths. And intriguingly enough, theistic evolution and the scientific story of creation follow the Biblical narrative shockingly well.
Proper interpretation of the Bible rests with the Church, not science.

Ed

It has a specific process though, that can’t be applied to everything.
I have had this conversation on a different thread, so don’t want to get off topic. I can’t think of a single topic or area of life that cannot be studied scientifically. Some are worthy studying others maybe not so, but anything can be studied.

It is not a leap at all. We can look at the historical evidence and the fossil record and see evolution taking place and occurring over the course of earth’s history.

The point of this thread, however, is not to debate evolution, that is against forum rules. The point is whether or not there is a widespread problem with teachers teaching things contrary to faith. I only bring up evolution to demonstrate that it does not conflict with Church teaching and therefore, it is not a good example of the existence of said problem.
There are conflicts and the concept of evolution is foundational to disbelief, and it does get to students. I seriously doubt the average person has missed the recent crop of anti-God books written by scientists who use their standing as teachers to convince people that science tells them religion is wrong/evil and God/gods must be driven from our lives/thinking. They help feed into the problem as described by the OP.

Peace,
Ed

How do you know that?
It is what our faith believes. However, I do not believe that the Bible and faith are in conflict. Especially based on the Church’s interpretation of the Bible.

When you get outside of the Church and into other’s interpretations of the Bible, then there can be conflict, but this is not the fault of science or the Bible, it is the fault of those with a flawed interpretation.

Science has to be able to measure something in order to study it. You cannot measure an infinite God.

When you say faith here do you mean the Catholic Faith?

The concept of evolution is foundational to disbelief only if it is used/interpreted improperly. If it is used as an explanation of the processes used by God, it is not foundational to disbelief, it is foundational to understanding the world our God created.

There are people that write junk, on every subject in every time. Teach kids to think critically and they can tell the good from the bad.

With all due respect to say you ‘cannot measure an infinite God’ means you must have some knowledge of God to make that statement. What is your knowledge that indicates an infinite God cannot be measured. And why do you think not?
