Why did the Protestants take off the crucifix on the cross?
“Protestants” did no such thing. Some groups within the movement called “Protestant” did.

But “Eucharisted”, since you think generalizations are so great: Why do RCs rape choir boys?

Protestants so focus on the Resurrection of Christ, and not the Passion, but they forget that the Passion came before the Resurrection. I myself focus on the Passion of Jesus, how He died and I can’t get past that. I cannot be at Charismatic churches (including my own), because I find it odd to be happy.

For the same reason that people commit murder, adultery, or any other host of sins – it’s due to our fallen nature. Surely you don’t think that this specific sin can be attributed only to the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church has sinners in it just like any Protestant church. And don’t give the excuse that you were pointing out someone’s hypocracy – as it comes across as an opportunity for a cheap shot!

I think that the irony of the post you are responding to went way over your head.🙂

Yet it’s still enough to have someone removed from CAF so we all need to be careful. And no that’s not a threat from me. Just an observation. 🙂

What difference does it make. We can nit pick everything to death. Why this, why that. Where does it say you have to show the cross one way and not the other way? I think sometimes we miss the point, which is God and if you believe in him or not. I have seen Catholics wearing a blank cross around their neck, why? Are they going against their religion?
See this seems like the Jews and the Gentiles that didn’t get along. See the Jews didn’t like the Gentiles because of the way they practiced their religion and their beliefs. Kinda sounds like the Catholics and the Protestants, the Catholics don’t like the way the Protestants practice their religion and their beliefs. Has nothing changed in 2000 years? Have we not learned anything from the past? Is this the way we Christians are to act to eachother? What happened to love and understanding, gentleness and patience? Is it lost in todays society? Has nothing changed? Have we not learned anything?

Great post and thank you. My feelings exactly:thumbsup:

And the Protestants (from my experience) have a problem with the Crucifix and other Catholic practices. It’s tit for tat. I have more of a problem with cafeteria catholics than Protestants. At least they’re (Protestants) passionate about their faith. I don’t have a problem with plain crosses. I believe a lot of Catholics don’t (there are no Crucifixes on Catholic steeples). But my faith as a Catholic prominently uses and wears the Crucifix and I get tired of people treating me like I’m a marked man (oh…you’re a Catholic, or you Catholics do this and that…“experts”). A Catholic friend wore a plain cross (the kind with the purple cloth around it) and she was approached in a store and told, nice to see you’re wearing the ‘right’ cross". That person got read the riot act. I love all our Christian brothers and sisters. But I wish both sides would cool it every now and then. Especially on CAF. Whatever happened to respectful dialog (and I’ve been guilty of it too)?

I apologize in advance if I got anything wrong (Catholic beliefs, etc.).

Tex: No insult intended as we all know what you mean; but, just to make sure we are using the correct terms:
The cross is a crucifix when it has the Corpus on it (Latin for body).
Just FYI… 🙂

That is a very offensive statment to make. We all know Jesus was on the cross for our sins, but is no longer there.:tiphat:
So your saying that you should only recognize His Resurrection and not His Passion? Remember, He had to die first in order that you live.

No I did not say or imply that. I was responding to the statement that Protestants were ashamed of Jesus on the cross and that is an offensive statement to make.

For me, Christ on the cross is the ultimate reminder of the love He has for all mankind. I wear one and really don’t think of it any other way.

I can appreciate that and I can appreciate an empty cross as well.
