I think this is the crux of the problem jpete79.
Besides you have questioned time and again authority, but tell me, is the following scripture or not? “If he refuses to listen to the church, treat him like a pagan or tax collector.” And also these heavy, heavy words “Anyone who listens to you listens to me; anyone who rejects you rejects me, and those who reject me reject the one who sent me.” Are you listening to the church which Jesus founded or are you listening to your own self-interpretation?
And when you say that the Pope contradicted scripture regarding confession, I shall just refer you to this link and read what the early church taught before anybody was able to “read” the bible on their own.
You are using your own self-interpretation on scripture and that can be very, very dangerous. You read but do not listen. Look at what you said, “Christ told the man on this day he would be with him in paradise.” Did Jesus so straight to heaven after he died? How long was it before he ascended to the father? Did Jesus lie? How is this interpreted? By your interpretation, the man went with Jesus straight to heaven? But how could he since Jesus said he would rise on the third day. Then how about, he was crucified and died on Friday and rose on Sunday. Lets see, Friday around 3Pm to Saturday 3Pm is 24 hours or one day, then from Saturday to Sunday 3PM is 48 hours or two days, then from Sunday to Monday 3PM would have been 3 days. Hmmmm, is this a dilemma?. Just by “reading” scripture by ourselves we would have to say that Jesus lied because he rose on Sunday and not on Monday. There was a man on a cross next to Christ…Christ told the man on this day he would be with him in paradise. He didn’t tell him that he was not pure. And this is a man who was crucified. That was an execution for the worst crimes. If this man didn’t have to be purified why would anyone else?

No, I think you are standing on the ground of your own self-interpretation and saying “this is what Jesus says”What I see is sad because my argument stands on the ground of Jesus Christ.
