Rev.sem.Alex m.
am realy suprised by some protestants who think that Jesus was wrong to use wine and even at times change water into wine.

remember the weding at cana, did he not change water into wine.
and also during his last super with the disciples did he not use wine.
remember his teaching he said that nothing comes from out side man that makes him unclean, but what comes from within the person makes man unclean. therefore the drinking of wine and alcohol is not bad but it is bad when one drinks more than he expected to drink.

therefore we come to say that try to unlise the scripture before you miss interpret it.know what is good and what is bad.even drinking too much of the guice as one mantioned that we use guice other than wine is also bad.

If there is any objection to my answer or any sugestion please bring it up.
let us meet in Heaven

If we are not to be stumbling blocks to one another, why is it insisted that someone drink alcohol when they have said they will not? The alcohol bothers them plain and simple.

The wine and the juice are both the blood whether one thinks of them symbolicaly or not. They are both still the blood and thats what the whole point is.

**The Scriptures tell us - and even substantiated at Mass - that wine is the “fruit of the cup, the work of human hands.” Wine is NOT grape juice, which is changed through an artificial procedure that does not go through natural fermentation which produces alcohol which is a natural by-product of fermentation. Jesus did not take “grape juice”. He took wine. It is important to stay within the context of Scripture on this. When Jesus performed some sort of ritual, it was for all eternity.

And I can never understand how members of those denominations that use grape juice have no problem drinking beer and other alcoholic beverages outside of church. How hypocritical.🤷 **
Hmm I never said it was grape juice back in the day. I actually said grape juice proper wasnt invented until Welch.

As for the drinking beer or other alcohol, well every church has it hypocrites. You havent met my cousins who are Baptist. Wouldnt put a drop of drink in their mouth, if their life depended on it. When there is a wedding, its the ceremony, maybe some pictures then dinner in the church basement, someone plays a piano, sings, unwrap gift and all home in bed for 9. Also, my in-laws who are Mennonite, no drinking either.

Ive never asked my cousins if they figure it was grape juice then, I will have to. But even then just as Cat said there is no changing a commitment to not drink. no more than changing a commitment to abstain from birth control. It is what each requires for their walk with God and we should respect each other for it. Just because one does not do somethiing does not mean others** have **to follow suit.

Thats all I have ever said.

I don’t think Baptists who drink at home are hipocrites. My friend who is the pastor doesn’t use wine to avoid drinking it in front of alcoholics in his congregation. I think that is a very considerate and appropriate thing to do.

Some of my Baptist friends from my old church keep defending the never drink position.
Hi

I am an Ahmadi peaceful Muslim. I am also of the same opinion as of the Baptist as you have mentioned.

Quran does not mention that JesusYeshuaIssa ever drank any wine. Maybe he only drank a sort of sweetened syrup.

Thanks

The Koran also does not mention that Jesus was the son of God…they sure do leave alot out dont they:D

Im not sure if they dont like it… Third Day a christian southern rock band wrote a song basically singing it. 🤷

I think the main difference is when it says catholic not Third Day but in church they say

catholic (universal)

meaning all churches that believe in the rest of the creed are actually under one church.

Now, you could be upset about that or just smile and if Im enough of a quick study realise who wrote that creed?

Something I learned from the SDA’s, see to them any church who worships on Sunday is Catholic. (I know I hear the arguements)

But I find it interesting sitting here on the bench that there is this thread running through all the churches. That while they claim they are different and appear to be. When the rubber hits the road they fall in line with that creed.

Exactly how Gods gonna pull the string and drag us all together is His plan.

🙂
WHERE in the bible does it state that different churches with different ways of worship are all considered “one Church”?
The different churches in the New Testament were only called so because they were in different places. They were ALL taught the SAME things in the SAME say and believed in the SAME things. They just happened to be in different countries and cities. There was no written creed.
There is only One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church - the one started by Christ - and then, there are all the rest.

The Bible tells us that it was wine but some non Catholic denoms teach that it was grape juice. The Bible tells us that Jesus spoke the truth when He commanded us to eat His flesh and drink His blood in the bread and wine. To reject this truth seems to me to be exactly what his Jewish followers did when they walked away from Christ saying “…who can believe it?” It seems that to embrace that truth is to become too Catholic for comfort…alas.🤷

**Alcohol is the *natural by-product *of grape fermentation. You guys need to go back to SCIENCE 101!!! ** People have been making wine for thousands of years…and even beer. Good Lord, get with the history already.:whacky:

My dh makes a homemade rootbeer. Guess what? It’s alcoholic, in fact it’s 1% alcoholic. You got your sugar, you got your yeast and the byproduct of those two is… alcohol. 😉

My Baptist friend said there wasn’t a word for grape juice when translating was being done , so they used the word WINE!!! So that makes complete sense of their belief as to it not being WINE that Jesus drank & changed into WINE at Cana! See they always have reasoning for their beliefs.
And as the wedding feast host noted, they saved the good grape juice til last!

The Koran also does not mention that Jesus was the son of God.
Hi

Yes, you are right. As I understand Quran/Islam/Muhammad maintain that it was metaphoric which our Catholic friends by mistake took to be literal or physical. Son of God means loved one of GodAllahYHWH this is commonly used in the OTBible, one could check it easily.

Thanks

your response does not indicate a actual understanding of the conversation I was having with wife&mom.

I do not know how to respond to it, you seem to be jumping off a point to make another one but Im not clear on it, if you care to try again.

🙂

I noticed in tommorrow’s Office of Readings [Psalm 104:14-15] states
Thou dost cause the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate, * that he may bring forth food from the earth, 15 and **wine to gladden the heart of man, **oil to make his face shine, and bread to strengthen man’s heart.
I can’t quite see grape juice gladdening the heart.

In my ramblings, I’ve asked this question of non-Catholics, getting some interesting answers.

One very sincere woman assured me, “Jesus would never have drank wine. It was Welch’s Grape Juice.”

A friendly Mormon explained, “Yes, it is true that Jesus drank wine, because they didn’t have refrigeration back then.”

Last year I was a guest at a Lutheran service. The pastor announced that the red wine was alcoholic, while the white wine was not fermented. I controlled an urge to ask when I chatted with him afterward, but really wanted to know how it could be “wine” without fermentation.

Et el

It has been discussed that wine is what it was. Welch came along later and made the grape juice we know today. They didnt have it back in the day.

So,… I wonder if Baptists or whoever start resorting to Jesus drank wine because this conversation never ends. Its been explained about addictions, it appears to fall on deaf ears.

It can weaken some others to take alcohol, we are instructed to hold up one another, by forcing the issue of wine, how can we be holding up the brother???

Its explained it is a commitment that some people do not want to partake of the alcohol for various reasons, some it affects themselves, some as a example to others.

It is similar to not taking birth control, eating particular foods on certain days, pick one theres a few. Why is it ok to abstain from sex but not alcohol???

If its on faith that it is the blood of Jesus, then why what it is content wise does it matter?? As it changes to His blood anyway. I find this a odd standoff that seems to have no end.

Its only use is to supply fodder for EACH side to argue. No good will come of this arguement. Cat said that several pages ago.

There is no logical sense in this. And certainly no understanding for a weaker brothers situations.

Alex m,
am sory for the people who still have doubt about the different religions.
it is writen that the only church recorgnised by Christ is that started by the appstles and the one under Christ successor that is the roman catholic church.

the creed was started eary when the people began to teach a heresy that we were having three Gods.and so had to come up with the creed to defferenciate our catholic religion from other religions.

if you are not sure please you are welcome with the question.

the creeds are [the apostles creed and the niceen creed.]
please have nice time.

am sory for the moslems, for how long will you come to learn the trueth?

the view whether Jesus was the son of God is seen repeated in most verses
Code:
Jesus called Himself the "Son of God" throughout the Gospels, (John 3:16-18), and the disciples also identified Him as the Son of God in their writings, (Rom 1:3).
Further, Jesus identified Himself as God revealed in the flesh, (John 8:58), and His disciples identified Him as God, (John 1:1, Phil 2:5-11). How could Jesus be The Son of God, and God at the same time? What does this term - “Son of God” mean? And if Jesus is the Son, in what way is Jesus God’s Son? Did God have physical relations with Mary and get her pregnant?
Christians also reject that God had physical intercourse with Mary, but we understand Christ being God’s Son as an analogical term. We believe that the eternal Son of God, one with the Father from all eternity, united to Him in one Spirit, “became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14), and took “the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men” (Philippians 2:7). We believe in the incarnation of the Son of God.
Muhammad did hear the Christians proclaim Jesus the Messiah as God’s Son, but understanding or not, he specifically denied that Jesus was the Son of God. He said in the Quran,
Sura 2:116 “They say: “God has begotten a son”. Glory be to Him. No, to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: everything renders worship to Him.”

please remember that the Bible was writen from the writings of the disciples of Jesus and also the catholic church was built under the foundation of Christ who said to Peter that he was the rock on which he would build his temple.
please it is time to return to the real church founded by Christ.
reply and tell me the real.

Note in Mark 2:22 Jesus says
22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost, and so are the skins; but new wine is for fresh skins."
Has anyone ever heard of grape juice bursting skins? He has to be referring to fermentation.

Besides, even if it was grape juice, there was no way to keep it without going bad.

Thats what the invention of Welch was. It could be kept.
