your response does not indicate a actual understanding of the conversation I was having with wife&mom.

I do not know how to respond to it, you seem to be jumping off a point to make another one but Im not clear on it, if you care to try again.

šŸ™‚
**No offense, but your writing is difficult to understand. **
**A lot of run-on sentences and poor grammar. **
This is what I was responding to:
*Im not sure if they dont like it… Third Day a christian southern rock band wrote a song basically singing it. *
*I think the main difference is when it says catholic not Third Day but in church they say *

catholic (universal)

meaning all churches that believe in the rest of the creed are actually under one church.
**This **is why I wrote what I wrote.🤷
Again - no offense intended.

i didn’t read many posts but i would think that Christ being called a drunk would imply that the wine had alcohol in it.

There is no offense, because we didnt understand one another. 🤷 no worries.

I will repost with any corrections that seem necessary. I removed the part about Third Day as it was part of a previous conversation with another poster. And perhaps adding to the confusion. You would have had, to take into consideration the whole conversation. Which was long. I hope this helps. šŸ™‚
I think the main difference is when it comes to the part in the Creed that says;
catholic (universal)
It is explained that this means all churches that believe in the Creed are actually under one church.
Now, you could be upset about that. Or just smile and if Im enough of a quick study on these boards, realise who wrote that creed?
(Something I learned from the SDA’s. See, to them any church who worships on Sunday** is **actually Catholic.)
But, I find it interesting sitting here on the bench. (By that, I mean I have a perspective as an outsider, one who holds to no particular group)
That, there is this thread, running through all the churches. That while they claim they are different and appear to be. When the rubber hits the road, they fall in line with that creed.
Exactly how Gods gonna pull the string and drag us all together is His plan.

Matthew 11:19
The Son of Man came eating and drinking,
Hi

I think the above verse means ā€œeating and drinkingā€ water.

Quran also mentions it:

[5:76] The Messiah, son of Mary, was only a Messenger; surely Messengers like unto him had passed away before him. **And his mother was a truthful woman. They both used to eat food. See how We explain the Signs for their good, and see how they are turned away. **[5:77] Say, 'Will you worship beside Allah that which has no power to do you harm or good? And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
[5:78] Say, ā€˜O People of the Book, exceed not the limits in the matter of your religion unjustly, nor follow the low desires of a people who went astray before and caused many to go astray, and who have strayed away from the right path.’
[5:79] Those amongst the Israel who disbelieved were cursed by the tongue of David, and of Jesus, son of Mary. That was because they disobeyed and used to transgress.

[21:8] And We sent none as Messengers before thee but men to whom We sent revelations. So ask the people of the reminder, if you know not; **
[21:9] Nor did We give them bodies that ate not food, neither were they to live forever. **
[21:10] Then We fulfilled to them Our promise; and We saved them and those whom We pleased; and We destroyed the transgressors.

Why did you quote only half the verse? The whole thing says:
19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ā€˜Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.ā€
Why would they have accused Jesus of being a winebibber (a drunkard) if he was drinking water? That would make no sense at all.

And the Quran is a false book. I don’t care what it says.

While I would hesitate to criticize Moslems for their belief, paarsurrey is doing his best to prove its falsity.

PROTESTANTS AND WINE
Code:
Most Protestant churches do not use wine at communion. There are at least these two reasons.

 (1) They don't want alcoholic worshipers either to refrain from communion or perhaps be tempted by wine, even a small amount.

 (2) Most USA Protestant churches - Baptists, Methodists, Congregationalists, Pentecostalists, etc (not Episcopalians or Lutherans) - have a 'dry' tradition. They have traditionally viewed alcohol as a drug that may be okay in moderation, but in millions of lives and homes, and in society at large, it is a serious problem. Consider the divorces, broken families, impoverished families, highway deaths, violence etc caused by alcohol abuse? So, as with any other drug, they believe that the wisest and safest policy is to avoid alcohol altogether. Certainly, it should not be encouraged by the church.

Remember, as pointed out already, Protestants believe it important to offer both the bread and the cup to worshipers. While Catholic churches are beginning to do that, most worshipers still only receive the bread.

Of course Jesus used wine. Just how fermented it was is difficult to say 2000 years later. The water likely was far less safe than wine. There are verses in the Bible condemning wine however - e. g., Proverbs 20:1. Then there are verses praising wine, too.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of priests have a problem with alcohol. Rumor has it - quite a large number.
