Ok, I’ll go along with that because those are the ones I’m personally familiar with, Baptist, penacostals, some methodist denominations, chuch of christ, evangelical christian, within baptoist catagory, include southern, missionary, independent fundamental, ABA, many independent , nazarene, assemblies of godcharismatic churches, disciples of christ, church of the nazerene, church of god in christ, I cant think of anymore right now but if not enough I’ll add to the list later.
You nailed it, Michael. Primarily an American event, and certainly not anywhere near a majority of western noncatholic Christians.

btw, does anyone know if the KJV has been translated into languages other than English?

Jon

I cannot speak about protestants other than in america, in america evangelicals are dominant and they are as a rule very anticatholic.

In europe I have only been to catholic services except for one church of england mass at wesminister

I’m going to venture a guess and say yes, the KJV has been translated to other languages, because it is the only version that, in my experience, Mormons use.

Amen to that.

No. The “I-heard-a-Catholic-say-such-and-such” form of argument is, in my humble opinion, absurd (as I’ve been trying to tell Protestant posters for some time now).
I believe I was trying to illustrate that such an argument is faulty logic; sorry I wasn’t clear about that. To apply it to Protestants is equally absurd.

I just realized that protestants do believe in infalliblity.
This in reference to their leaders and to their own interpetion of scriptures.

Example:
  1. KJV only position
  2. When their denominational leaders speak, they are speaking God’s commands.
  3. In protestantism every man is a law unto himself(his own interpetion of scripture).
Any one who holds the belief’s of their founder believes their founder to be infallible. For example; Jesus founded the Chair of Peter and the Catholic church.

Name the founder of your religion, faith or denomination and their you have your infallible teacher;

How tired I’m getting of these lies…

1: The KJV-only position is not a valid argument for your point, for basically two reasons:
1,1: It is certainly not all “protestants” who hold that view. From what I know, it’s only a minority of Jack Chick-lookalikes that do.
1,2: It is only a possible position, if English is your native language.

2: “When their denominational leaders speak, they are speaking God’s commands.”
What on Earth do you base that on? I mean except your own prejudice and what you’ve been told over and over and over again? And WHICH groups are you talking about?

3:“In protestantism every man is a law unto himself(his own interpetion of scripture)”

Oh. I didn’t know that. Thanks for telling me what I believe

Please find something more productive to do with your time than spreading lies about your brothers…

What kind of nonsense is this?!?!

I believe that Luther rediscovered some very important truths that had been forgotten in the RC church, but that does not mean that I believe the man is infallible! That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a long time!

Rediscovered what? Luther invented not rediscovered new Christian theology. If you believe Luther’s newly founded theologies to be true in Lutheranism then you accept his new teachings without error as infallible. You may not be use to applying this Catholic definition to any thing Lutheran, which only means “without error”. So do you find Luther’s teachings without error or infallible?

The dumbest thing is when one applies Infallibility to the life of the Pope for which it does not apply. The infalliblility only apply when the Pope teaches on faith and morals to which Jesus gives the guarantee his teachings are without error or infallible.

Why is so hard for you to accept Luther’s man made teachings as infallible? Luther thought his new teaching of “Sola Scriptura” is infallible or without error. Or is it the Catholic tone of infallibility that gets your dandruff up?

Peace be with you

What a pile of …

John Wesley [unintentionally] founded Methodism. However, he was fairly clear in his own writings about his own fallibility.

This is anti-Protestant rhetoric, pure and simple. You’re better than that, Gabriel.

As Tom Wilkinson (Canon Chasuble) said in The Importance of Being Ernest, “Charity dear Miss Prism, charity! None of us are perfect. I myself am peculiarly susceptible to draughts.”

But seriously, even if someone makes a false statement, it doesn’t necessarily indicate any intention to spread lies.

Interestingly enough, another Lutheran poster recently made a point about not doing that. 👍

the point of the original post is that, and I would agree it was not spelled out as well as it could be, in response to catholics belief in the holy spirit protecting the church and its leader in matters of doctrine , infallability, that all denominations believe to a large extint in the infallability of their leader or the one who first created their teachings. If not, if you believe they are wrong why are you a member of that group or denomination? It makes no sense.

At least in my tradition, we believe that we are guided by the work and discernment of the Holy Spirit, not the leader who first created their teachings. In the case of Methodism, this was the Articles of Religion of the Church of England, not John Wesley.

And as Lutherans, we would point to the Creeds, and the Lutheran Confessions, not Luther.

Gabriel of 12

Wait a minute; hold on there!🙂 Do you believe JohnWesley’s teachings in Methodism to be “True and without error”? if you follow his teachings then you subscribe to his infallible teachings and Methodology of Christianity, If you do not believe in his teachings or Methodology of Christianity them why do subscribe to John Wesley’s Methodism of Christianity?

That is the statement I propose to those Protestants who follow their founders teachings. I made no address to the Protestant founders as themselves being infallible, Just as I made the address of the Pope’s life is not infallible. But the Popes teachings on Faith and Morals are “without error” infallible and have the guarantee that they are by the “Holy Spirit” and Jesus himself.

Please do not take offense of my explanation, the hope here is that maybe you can clarify your belief in your founders teachings or Christian instruction as whether they are “True without error” or infallible?

Peace be with you

Interesting JonNc; So if you point to the apostolic creeds that came before Luther, what need is there to follow the teachings of Luther? The Credo explains the whole of the Catholic faith. Can you explain the difference? I believe your referencing the apostle or Nicene Creed? Let me know if you mean something other?

Peace be with you:)

And also with you.

And the Athanasian. These three make up the first section of the Lutheran confessional documents.

The point of this thread was to claim that “Protestants believe in infalliblity of their leaders”.

Seems to me that claim has made and throughly answered; so is there any point in continuing the thread?

I am a Charismatic/Pentacostal Evangelical Christian and I do not believe that.
