Don’t tell me…they did it from behind the grassy knoll…Six Protestant ministers and Pope Paul the VI changed the Mass. Oh, the intrigue.

Wonder how he felt about halloween ?Well I remember reading somehwre (whish I had the source) that there were Protestants observers at the Council of Trent as well. I don’t see anything wrong with have other denominations be observers, and I really doub’t 6 protestant figures had any power on voting in the council. In saying this though, I do have a nasty view of Bugini, may he RIP. But I will leave it at that.
Msgr Bugnini did not “write” the mass. There was a consilium, a commission of experts that revised the Mass. I have a book, which I can’t find right now, that explained the entire process of the development of the Mass of Paul VI, including the names of all the experts involved in the project. When I find it I will post the names of those people, mostly priests (if not all) I believe.I guess I misread the post then. I thought I was replying to the issue of six Protestant “observers” when Bugnini was writing his Mass, not Vatican II.

No, I think Professor Plum did it with the candlestick in the conservatory…Don’t tell me…they did it from behind the grassy knoll…
The 1970 Missal is generally referred to as the “new” Mass. The vernacular (not just English) in the Mass, however, already started appearing in the liturgy much earlier. This was perhaps influenced by the Protestants? Why were they there at all? Just some questions I have had for a while. What is the “new Mass”?
Are you talking moving from Latin Masses to English Masses?
Forget the English for a second, that seems to be clouding the issue.I don’t get all this. I have the old Maryknoll Missal with the Latin on the left and English on the right. Seems to me that the elements of the Mass have not changed. Now I read we’re getting a new Missal. Will some consider that another “new Mass?”
No, I think Professor Plum did it with the candlestick in the conservatory…
