Protestants: Do you believe that Christ is truly present in the communion elements of bread and wine?

Leviticus 17:4 "For as for the life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, 'You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.’

God does not change and Jesus would not violate His own command.

Well then consider this: How many internet users (Catholic, Protestant, whatever) make vicious and uncharitable statements every day, all across the “World Wide Web”? A number that boggles the mind. Clearly you won’t be able to turn back the tide. Hence, if you sincerely believe that someone’s posts are uncharitable, then why not just ignore him or her and get keep on discussing things with other internet users?

That’s my approach anyhow. (Not that anyone would ever be uncharible to little ol’ me. :whistle:)

We all do it, but when we get out of hand, we apologize to keep things charitable.

Not to be the proverbial “wet blanket”, but I think you’ve adopted an overly rosy view of the internet. I’ve spent a fair amount of time on internet discussion forums, over the last 4 years or so, and I’ve seen many, many, cases where things “got out of hand” and there was never an apology.

A revert is one that has left the Faith and then returns. Since I returned to the Catholic Church I have come to know my Faith as never before. In the beginning I used to question* everything *until one day someone quoted St Augustine"

*" **Seek not to understand that you may believe, but believe that you may understand." ***

This was a turning point for me because I realised that first comes Faith. There is no way I could possibly understands all the mysteries of Faith: Incarnation, Trinity, Passion of Jesus, Resurrection, Eucharist.

I believe because I love and trust Jesus.

I am an African. I was born on the Island of Mauritius (right of Madagascar). We came to live in South Africa when I was 6 years old. There was a time I asked myself “What am I?” My home language had changed 3 times and I was living with my Portuguese husband in Mozambique. I loved all the cultures but in the end I had to admit that I am South African first of all. My family is of French origin (Brittany and Normandy), the celtic kind.

Africans have a strong human warmth which is very appealing.

Since I reverted to the Catholic Church I have been reading mainly books on my Faith, biographies, apologetics, conversion stories.

My foot is not any better. So please pray for me. I am getting this x-rayed tomorrow. Please pray that I will not need any surgery.

In the meantime, please give up on the idea of a boat. I am sure your wife has had enough of cleaning fish.😃

We also celebrate the Eucharist every week. 🙂 In both forms, the Body and Blood of Christ.

I think you mean the Ascension don’t you? If so, then of course I know about the Ascension. When Jesus ascended into heaven he promised to send us the Holy Spirit. He said he would not leave us orphans.

The thread is about the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist - what has the Ascension got to do with it?

Ever heard of the blood of the New Covenant? Jesus came to make a New Covenant with the people, with us.

True. Jesus would not violate God’s command. One thing you are forgetting is JESUS IS GOD. He can command whatever He wants.

He is one with the Father, so I am sure that when Jesus commands something ,the Father approves.

So here you have His Son saying “eat my flesh drink my blood” and I am sure that is the Father’s Will because His Son says so. Get it?

And as I said in my post 927 to Nancy:

In John 6, at around Passover he was telling His disciples eat my flesh drink my blood and they were probably thinking “He’s not making sense but He has the words of eternal life so we will go with him”.

One year later at the last supper, **then they realize what eat my flesh means, because now He is holding out the bread to them saying “This is my Body”. So now they realize aahhh, so this is the flesh he is talking about. This is the flesh, the bread, because he says, this is my body. **

His Cult have 28 beliefs that they deny are beliefs!🤷 One of these main “beliefs” is: “Only a person who knows and understands what Jesus taught can teach what Jesus taught.” That sounds reasonable doesn’t it?

You will have them throwing her to this or that side when you ask about her teachings ,which they follow “religiously” [pun intented!] but at the same time also deny. :rolleyes: I guess, if you deny enough things, no one can challenge your beliefs. I think they have been doing it for over 140 years. It might have something to do with the “End of the World” trick they fell for twice. I am not sure.

The really funny thing is Protestant101 also thinks Non-Catholic and nancy dalrymple will be marked with the sign of Satan just like he does all Catholics! :rotfl: It has something to do with not worshiping on Saturdays! That is how real Christians know they don’t even believe in Jesus’ teachings. All people who actually love Jesus worship Him on His day. Why, even the Protestants, that only have social events, have them on Sundays, well except for some Baptist that have their social events on Saturday.

Real Protestants usually think that their interpretations are inspired by the Holy Spirit; but they are now divided in 60 some thousand **different groups and most of them have all have different interpretations. Since the Holy Spirit cannot contradicts Himself, it should be evident even to them that their interpretations are only fallible human opinions.

Of course, when Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit, He was speaking directly to His apostles only, and NOT to the crowds. "I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot hear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” John 16 :12-13

It is then illogical to use this verse, as Protestants often do, to claim that Jesus has promised the Holy Spirit to everybody, because He was speaking only to his apostles, united with Peter, whom He had given the keys of the kingdom of heaven.

Protestants say that the Catholic church has been corrupted! If this were true, it would mean that Jesus was a liar! Didn’t Jesus said that the gates of Hell would not prevailed against His church? We know that corrupted men have been present within the church. Since the very beginning (Judas was one of the apostles), but the church can never be corrupted because its teachings are always Jesus’

I hope that helps to explain why I believe that we have to pray for Protestant101 and the real Protestants also! Prayer can do anything. Jesus can defeat Satan and remove the veil from their minds. Conversion is possible! All it takes is prayer to give them faith! And who better to pray for them then Jesus real followers?
