Protestants: Doesn't it bother you that your religion is of man-made origin?

: Your dislike for protestants close them off from listening to ANYTHING you have to say about a church that looks less and less appealing with every condescending poke at their belief system and Love for Christ.

who said anything about disliking Protestants? I love Protestants… and that is why i try to get them on the pathway to truth… They already have some Christian truth… and some evne out-shine Catholics in t heir love of Christ… and their fight against, (for example) abortion & other social evils…

I wish posters would quit putting words (and thoughts and feelings, etc) in other’s … posts…

Also, it should be noted that a person who loves truth is going to be capable of looking beyond SEEMING “dislike” of their religion… & be open to what some “apparently” hostile person is saying… if that person is speaking truth. You know, everyone didn’t like the wya Jesus proclaimed truth either… & we know what they did to Him in their displeasure, don’t we???:hypno:

Apart from wishful thinking and/or some sort of burnin’ in the bosom, what is that based upon?

How does He do this in a way that is clear and obvious to everyone in the room?

If I claim to have received locutions from Christ that I am now your leader, and you must obey my every command, how are you going to test my claim? By what marks will you know that it is true (or not, as the case may be)?
What kind of occult do you think I belong to? Obey his every command? If it doesn’t jive with scripture he’s out the door. I fall to my knees and converse with God about where He needs me to learn.

“Scripture”, is the single-word answer to that question.

It is obvious that you believe we are blind idiots. See your thread title for that…

But if that church is cultivating people who disrespect others beliefs then how is that person who is open for hearing it, supposed to hear the TRUTH when it is clouded by someone calling them an idiot?

“Scripture”, is the single-word answer to that question.
That’s how I came to the conclusion that all my former pastors were wrong. When they said Catholics believed they were worshipping Jesus in the Eucharist, and they weren’t. Then I saw Jesus said that was His Body, and His Blood, and we should do that. And He confronted those who did not believe and called themselves His disciples. They left and they were compared to Judas. Now that’s serious.

So, thanks to Scripture, I’m Catholic.

. Complete Christianity isn’t as bad as you think. It goes far deeper than merely indulging positive, inspiring words.
Thank you so much for that!! When i was outside the Church years ago (out of ignorance, etc.)… i was SO lost. I used to go to any Christian chruch in the neigborhood… i was searching for Christ but i never found him until i began prayin the rosary… and then got back into his Church… Of course, the devil didn’t appreciate that & attacked me like crazy… but maybe that’s another story… In any case, the Catholic Chruch is the one with the power of Christ, the power to overcome sin… (if we access that power)… I could never overcome certain sins when i was outside the Church… I was totally “lost”… & that is why i am so enthused about my faith & try to share it with others… Jesus said that not everyone will be “strong enough” to enter Heaven… the world, the flesh & the devil are too much for us… we need ALL the help we can get… The Church has that help… and only the Church. Jesus only promised that the gates of Hell would not prevail over the Church… he never promised they wouldn’t prevail over anything else (individuals outside the Church…).

By what signs does He answer you?

Mental telepathy? If so, how do you sort His thoughts out from your own?

Supernatural signs in the environment? How do you know it is God and not Satan who is sending them?

Without a backup system of authority that Christ Himself put in place while He was on the earth, that you can test things by, how do you know you are interpreting everything exactly right? 🤷

Our Lord disrespected others beliefs all the time, and He clearly taught us that not all beliefs were worthy of belief, that they should be questioned, and we should be obedient to all that which we have been taught and received.

No one has called you an idiot. Find the line where we did, and I will gladly bow out of this little debate. The thread title is in no way calling you an idiot. It’s simply pointing out the truth - that Protestant denominations were founded by men, and Protestants aren’t bothered by that by reasons that you yourself stated.

thank you so much for sharing your story… It is good to hear of someone who loved truth and found it…

Maybe you cn answer this question i have had for some time:

Why, in your opinion, do a lot of Protestants reject the truth that you did not reject?? .

How do you KNOW that being Catholic is right for you? Have you ever asked God if that is where He wants you?

Let’s pray to Our Lady and Our Lord that someone’s hearts will listen.

I think you said it earlier - pride. It’s all pride. [Moderator Note: Removed some uncharitable comments.]
How do you KNOW that being Catholic is right for you? Have you ever asked God if that is where He wants you?
I’ve asked Him over, and over, and over. And I’ve felt Her draw over, and over, and over. And He’s proven Her through natural law and logic, over, and over, and over. And he’s proven Her through history and continuity, over, and over, and over. And he’s proven Her through Her spiritual power over, and over, and over.

This is a slightly random point, but I’ve always chuckled a bit hearing stories about Protestant churches referring possessed persons to Catholic Churches for the rite of exorcism. That struck a cord with me when I was a kid, because I always figured that only the genuine good guys, the heroes, could defeat the bad guys.

so true… We’ve all heard the stories like the one in Oregon… A woman claimed that “God” told her to throw her 8 month old down the stairs… (fortunately the child lived).

this person i used to know said that “God” led her out of the Catholic Church. I asked her, “What god? The god of this world?”

“Scripture”, is the single-word answer to that question.
Scripture supports the Pope’s claim that he is the leader of the Church, since it shows us that Christ appointed Peter to be the head of the Apostles (John 21:15-19), and that the Apostles were the leaders of the Church (Matthew 18:18; Acts 15, and many others).

If you go by Scripture alone, without the baggage of cultural accretions, you would look for their successors, and in particular, Peter’s successor - and you would find him in Rome.

So, if you are going by what we find in Scripture regarding Church authority, why are you not following the Pope? 🤷

The whole underlying tone of this thread is calling protestants idiots…
I poke fun at things that are not true, and we must believe what Christ asks us to believe. We care very much, and have been trying to bring our Protestant separated brethren back into the fold for as long as they’ve broken away.
So all of the soul searching and intelligent thought is all for naught? I am an idiot and my beliefs (which make up my very being) are not true, I say that I speak with God but you believe:
That’s not Jesus or the Holy Spirit talking to them. They’re usually just delusions of grandeur.
I am not an idiot, I have done my research and a lot of thought has gone into it. The conclusion is that I am right where God wants and needs me… but according to you, my beliefs are ‘not true’ and that I actually don’t speak with God so in essence I am an idiot to believe that God has brought me to where I am.

wow… could you give us more details on that? I know that was the case with the story that the movie The Exocist was based on - a Lutheran boy was possessed (in the movie it was a girl and some other facts were chnaged)… and he went to spend the night @ the Lutheran pastor’s house… but the devil kept rocking and moving the pastor’s bed, etc… & finally, he referred the boy to the Catholics…

Now you have answered your own question to me. But God has been the one and only to draw and bring me to Him. There is no her in there.

Yes. My conversion story is linked at the bottom of my signature. It’s full of instances of telepathy and supernatural signs from God, along with tons of confirmation, including Scripture, history, personal experience, and God’s chain of command. 🙂

But, without testing the spirits to make sure that they are from God (and how does one do that, without a recognizable authority system?) one could end up like that woman in Oregon who thought that God had commanded her to throw her baby down the stairs, or another woman, who drowned her four children in a bathtub at “God’s” command, or a man who strapped his 6 year old son and three year old daughter into a car and pushed it off of a cliff into the ocean because “God” told him to do it.

According to reason, yes, you are incorrect. And because I don’t think your an idiot (however idiotic the ideas behind Protestantism are… I’m sure you have many ideas that you’ve never realized are Catholic) I tell you what I know to be the truth. And I hope you will listen to the Holy Spirit moving you towards the Catholic Church, because that’s what She does - She moves people towards truth.

Again, I will stress to you that Our Lord disrespected others beliefs many times. Jesus despised the beliefs of the Pharisees, but He loved them with all His heart and perfection. He flipped tables, He called them snakes for what they were saying, but He loved them.

I am not making of you. I am making fun of the Protestant ideas. That you feel an affinity for them does not mean I am attacking you. Reason would tell us that you are clearly not an abstract idea. You are a person with a physical body, and a soul, but your soul is not those very ideas - your soul existed with God before you even heard of those ideas.
Now you have answered your own question to me. But God has been the one and only to draw and bring me to Him. There is no her in there.
Why do you disregard the Church that He calls the pillar and foundation of truth? Why does the Rock play no role in your faith?
