Amen, rommelh.
Dear friend in CHrist You can’t compare an Apple to an Orange? they are two disticnt fruits with it’s own Identity. With your question you are brewing prejudism in the body of CHRIST…Remember whether you are an ARIAN or NEGRO or Yellow or Brown we all been bought by the BLOOD of CHRIST!
We all bleed the same!
Jesus did not preach indifference but oneness. For us to say youre this and youre that will put GOD’s plan in vain!
How far do we carry it? Well let’s ask Apostle Paul - 1 Corithian 1:10-20
I pray to GOD my dear brother that bigotry and prejudice will be taken away from the body of Christ.
Quote: Proverbs 6:16 There are six things that GOD hates and Seven is an abomination in his eyes (paraphrasing) GOD detest a person that creates DIVISION!!

GOD Bless and may the peace of CHRIST JESUS be unto you and your family
Bro.rommelh
That’s a nice sentiment; but the question is, How far do we carry it?

Suppose, instead of Catholics and Protestants, we were talking about Christians with Christological differences. Would you say “There is no Arian or Nicene in the body of Christ”?

Remember, the Church came before the Bible. Before the New Testament. People spoke through Tradition as did Jesus. Orally. 😉
Dear Friend in CHRIST JESUS, AJ
I need to correct you when you say that the BIBLE is interpreted according to what denomination or church one’s belong! There is only ONE WORD OF GOD, One Mathew, One John, One Mark, One Luke, One PSALM, One Pentateuch, One Moses, One Abraham, One Isaac, One Jacob… and so on!
I have to remind you that CHRIST came to REDEEM and SAVE us and in the process HE corrected the early CHURCH"s TRADITIONS!
In FACT on JESUS final hour on earth before he breathe his last HE says “IT IS FINISHED!!!” after HE utter such word the CHURCH VEIL WAS TORNED IN HALF!!!
That’s the end of the TRADITIONS!!!
My dear friend in CHRIST, there is no other reference that our CHURCH FATHER will refer to but the WORD OF GOD (BIBLE) Infact, the sole reason why our Mother CHurch does not allow Lay people to read the WORD of GOD because they are so afraid that lay people will misinterpret the SCRIPTURES!!!(WORD of GOD)
Now if you will stay in the TRADITION then I suggest be ready, the tradition of the CHURCH will reinforce how much we need a SAVIOR!!!

My dear brother I suggest you should pick up the WORD of GOD and ask the HOLY SPIRIT to guide you and you will see a different perspective. GOD gave us 66 books and 40 Authors to show us how much HE LOVES us. DOn’t be afraid to open the BIBLE for that’s what the devil wants. Again, before JESUS started his ministry HE went to the Wilderness ( again wilderness in Ysrael is really a DESERT!!!) and Fasted for 40 days and the devil tempted HIM 3 times and 3 times CHRIST rebuked the devil with the WORD OF GOD. paraphrasing JESUS says " The SCRIPTURES SAYS…
Now if JESUS himself uses the WORD how can we who claims to LOVE GOD can say it is not important to read and study his WORDS.

JOHN 1:1 says " In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD."
If we say we don’t need the WORD of GOD then we are actually saying we don’t need GOD!!!
Plus this should answer who came first TRADITION or WORD.
May the spirit of our Lord and Saviour JESUS CHRIST be upon you and your love ones

Yours in CHRIST JESUS,
brother rommelh

just wondering about your spiritual background… approx age??

are you considering becoming Catholic??

What does this rambling on have to do with the church that Christ established BEFORE the bible? Tradition IS the Word of God. The bible is merely Tradition written down…🤷

I know someone in Christ who, fourteen years ago (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows), was caught up to the third heaven. 2 Cor 12:2

As a protestant growing up and as an adult I never got the answer to this verse. “Third heaven”? What exactly is that?

And Catholics want to give this one a go?

Remember, the Church came before the Bible. Before the New Testament. People spoke through Tradition as did Jesus. Orally. 😉
I do recognize that and for that I am truly grateful to the Catholic Church for the bible.

I also believe that the bible was and is inspired by the Holy Spirit as the one and only true source of truth to be found within this world.

I also believe that God does speak to us via various other people as well but not in an authoritative manner.

It can be noted that the nation of Israel from it’s beginning, (Jacob) that it remains true as a virgin to this day as well.

Does that make the Jews the true religion?

Absolutely not?

For according to your bible, as is mine, God used them to bring Jesus to all of us.

We are a new church, no, not the Catholic Church physical, no not the Protestant churches physical, but the true spiritual Church of Christ which can only be established within each one of us.

We can only be born into it, that is the only requirement!

So, we are brothers and sisters first by birth and not by what church we belong to.

Each church/denomination is like siblings trying to honor their dad or mom the best way they know how and of their own choosing.

And unless the dad or mom have no love, then a problem exists between the siblings as to who is more correct.

not true… My testimony (life story) proves this… I didn’t find moral truth until i became fully Catholic… (very long story but will share what i can if necessary)… you say this because you do not understand Catholicism… There was a time when i didn’t either… Jesus gave us a Church we can trust… I know its hard to believe we can trust anything in this crazy, sinful world, but the Church is the only thing we can trust… How… for example, would one “progress” from, say, the teachings of Humanae Vitae (spelling?)

My response in blue.
I have absolutely no problem with your finding your true way of worshiping God.

One does not progress beyond absolute truth… as one would… say, progress in learning the intricacies of the various sciences… In other words, once a person knows that things like fornication and abortion (etc, etc) are very wrong & offensive to God and have horrible consequences… the only progression to be made is in conforming to those teachings with all one’s heart/soul/body/mind… Morality is not like science (or whatever…)…

I agree with you. Absolutes are there for our own protection. God knew exactly what to warn us about.
However, absolutes themselves are not what a believer make.

A believer who is born into the church of Christ has those absolute written in the heart

where by compliance is a desire and not a must.

hate is not always bad.

It is good and necessary to HATE evil… and if that means sometimes appearing to hate those who practice it… well, so be it… The world is always going to accuse us of such things… We hate homosexuality so we hate homosexuals… (so tiresome  )

Jesus even told us to HATE our brother, sister, mother, father… children… evne our very lives…
Hate is not an attribute of God, but of mankind only.

Jesus said, if we don’t love our bothers or sisters we don’t love Him.

The hate I speak about has to do with doing harm, bodily harm, torturing, killing in the name of God via our own religious beliefs.

That is not acceptable behavior for one born of God.

I will make an exception though, as God did, and that is for those who crucified Jesus.

They were purposely employed by God to perform as directed by God .

Talk about their following absolutes. They varied not one bit from them in the crucifixion of Jesus.

Jesus said: “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”.

*hopefully you are not saying that there is such a thing as a “more mature view” that contradicts Catholic teaching?? *
No, what I am saying is that a more mature understanding will enrich your quality of life since you will be more apt to understand the level of understanding demonstrated by others.

You will find many who have faith but have very shallow understanding in spiritual things and thus react to things differently, in to the dividing of themselves from even their own groups.
Jesus addressed that by this words, “Oh ye of little faith”.

A good Catholic can be a wise old individual, advanced in the level of spiritual understanding.

Brother Rommelh,

Thank you for your loving concern.

I can appreciate where you are coming from, for I to came from that point as well.

When and individual desires to gain more spiritual understandings, the hunger for it drives us seek until we are satisfied.

God, I believe, now this is my personal belief, has fed me ample spiritual food to where I am satisfied in understanding.

But with that comes an awesome responsibility, and that is that there is a natural tendency to stop seeking, or rather say stop growing because of the new found knowledge.

But instead, I channel my efforts to help others who are hungry for deeper understanding.

I want to state here that my efforts deal only with helping and not condemning, or persuading the change of their current beliefs.

That is up to the Holy Spirit to decide.

Because of my understanding, I have no preference to anyone religious belief, only to those who wish to know more about Jesus.

Thank you for your blessing’s for me and my family, in your closing, they are truly appreciated.

Then you do not follow the Word of God. The Word of God, Jesus, has told Peter to start His church. And the Gates of Hell will not prevail. For someone who states the bible is “everything”, you certainly contradict yourself.

People keep asking me where I got the idea Catholic say that other Christians aren’t saved. In explainig you came up.
The thing about the internet is that it’s really really easy for someone to make to get online and say “I’m Catholic (or respectively Protestant) and I believe X”. Unfortunately, this very often leads to a bunch of others saying “Oh, so Catholics (or respectively Protestants) believe X”. (See also CAF does NOT represents Catholicism.)

Now to stay on topic:

Despite all these Scripture passages, Protestanism rejected the beliefs in Purgatory and prayers for the dead, with the exception of Anglicans, many of whom have retained some form of these. C.S. Lewis was one of these traditional Anglicans. In one of his last books, “Letters To Malcolm”: Chiefly on prayer, he stated that he prayed for the dead, among who were many of his loved ones, and that he believed in Purgatory , comparing it to an intense rinsing of the mouth at the dentist’s office. He thought no one would want to enter Heaven unclean, as this would be downright embarrassing.

Sure that is a given. But what’s this third heaven St Paul speaks of?

Remember, the Church came before the Bible. Before the New Testament. People spoke through Tradition as did Jesus. Orally. 😉
Peace to you AJ:
I am glad to hear at the end you refer to the WORD of GOD as the light to your path. As you describe the Hierarchy of Learning you then summed it up to a step by step process. Not only in Faith but in General we should go to a process to get a solid ground on the subject. Like for example RELATIONSHIP? There are steps to follow so you can develop a solid relationship. First I call it EYE to EYE- this stage start with eyeing someone. Second MOUTH to MOUTH - this where you approach the person and engages into conversation. When all things goes right this is the stage where parents go crazy for their Phone bills or cell bills goes HIGH!!! as you spend more time conversing and getting to know each other more then the THIRD HAND to HAND- this stage is where you walk hand and hand and your friends get to know the other person. FOURTH is HAND to HAIR - this is the stage where a guy can fart and the girl can burst into laughter while her snotch comes out of her nose! It is amazing to note that you can’t touch someone hair unless you guys are close already! FIFTH is HAND to WAIST - this is the stage where you walk closely together and starts conversing on a personal matters. SIXTH is LIPS to LIPS ! - a stage where you face each other and the it is now more intimate. SEVENTH is Hands to BREAST! - This stage is the MATRIMONAL Stage and you both passionate with each other and share the GREATEST GIFT GOD gave US HIS children… This is why too many relationship does not last for many if not all wants to jump from EYE to EYE to HAND to BREAST! Dear Friend AJ this is what you want to convey of taking time and allow the natural process to take place to keep us in line. I Just want to remind you my dear friend in CHRIST that you must take a stand. You can only be HOT or COLD when it comes to your FAITH or GOD! Don’t fall into the trap of going by the flow!!! With such attitude we can never attain the full blessing of GOD.
I hope I shed a few light on this matter through the Love of CHRIST JESUS.

Yours in Christ,
ROmmelh

My dear friend in Christ I respect and enjoy the writings of C.S. Lewis but anyone of US can write or qoute on issues regarding things of HEaven and GOD but it does not mean it is right! The only GUIDE to issues of FAITH is the WORD of GOD!!!
One of the Greatest Mind of our Church is ST. Thomas Aquinas but again his writing is an enhancement but not the WORD of GOD! EVEN the book of REVELATION says that no one can add or substract to the WORD of GOD! REVELATION 22:18

C.S. Lewis’s writing about prayers and purgatory should not be taken as the WORD of GOD! Should you want to be CORRECT and PRESICE then refer to the WORD of GOD. According to HIS WORD, once a person is called Home you are either UP or DOWN and no inbetween! If there is INBETWEEN then I can live my life like there is NO GOD and then pay my way UP by asking and paying people to PRAY FOR ME 7-24 so that I can be lifted up to HEAVEN!!! I don’t think so! This is why it is very important to read HIS WORD so that we are full aware of what GOD wants to reveal to us in regards to our salvation. Again It is important to note that ONLY the WORD of GOD will suffice GOD! WHY? HE WROTE IT! NO ONE CAN DISPUTE THIS unless you are not a believer!!! Our MUSLIM Brothers in their QUORAN even says that OUR BIBLE is a SACRED BOOK and it should be read!!!
The Bottomline, there is no other book that you can compare with the WORD of GOD and I suggest to give it a try and it will change the way you see our GOD!

Blessing and Peace to you,
brother rommelh
